  1. It is the CO’s decision during the interview. If I was you, I would be ready with a joint sponsor to prevent any delays after the interview
  2. He can't leave the international area as he needs a visa to enter France He will have to stay in the transit area all that time
  3. I agree with @TBoneTX that each and every case is different and that what happens in one consulate does not translate to other consulates. I have been tracking cases at the Casablanca Consulate that went from Ready to Refused for almost a year, and then Expired for almost a week or two before it changed to Refused, and than it changed completed to a NonImmigrant Visa Application with Application Received status Things can be crazy
  4. They only answer the first email with a bogus reply stating the case is under AP, and then the following emails go to their junk folder. all we can do is wait, hoping for an approval every week. We started to hate weekends and holidays because we know they don’t work. Monday is my favorite day of the week now
  5. They have everything they need. They called my wife for a second interview in February 2023 and asked for pictures from my last visit (December 2022). They asked the same blanket questions and took the pictures. They told her all is good and they will call her for the next steps. And they went silent again
  6. Several people go through the same treatment in Africa and MENA countries. Only can hope for the best. they don’t answer emails (they feel they don’t have to). And there is no phone number to contact them directly
  7. yes they still have her passport, and the case status never changed from Ready since the case was transferred from NVC to the consulate on April 15 2022
  8. Keeping the passport doesn’t mean anything at all. Casablanca consulate kept my wife’s passport since May 17 2022, and we are still waiting for an answer
  9. Casablanca does not allow couple interviews: only the applicant will be allowed to enter the consulate for interview. K1 visa process actually includes marriage (if K1 visa is issued) once the applicant enters the US, and then AoS. I believe that OP is worried about the length of CR1 process and did not explain that clearly, so they decided to go the K1 route (presumably faster), and being together with their fiancée (future spouse) while going through AoS
  10. wet signature and scanned back into the system. otherwise, it will be rejected
  11. Nothing yet, and they are not providing any updates at all. They have kept my wife's passport since 17 May 2022 Ceac still shows Ready (hasn't changed since the initial interview). Case last updated on 16-Mar-2023
  12. based on our experience, you should get your interview letter beginning of April for an Interview Mid May But, this is only one data point, things change all the time
  13. you will get the sealed envelope with your passport at Aramex No need to stress out about anything, just keep waiting for the status in ceac to change to Issued
  14. It is normal to return all the original documents and any evidence presented during the interview. They will keep the copies and translations of all needed documents and will put them in the sealed envelop that the applicant will bring with them to the US. The applicant will have to give that envelop to the immigration officer at the Port of Entry in the US.
  15. Congratulations Just make sure you get everything ready for the medical (passport, pictures and all things). It should be good from there Congrats again
  16. I came from a poor background myself, and for important meetings like this, something that will change your life completely, you’ll do what ever it takes to leave a good impression, including borrowing cloths to make sure you did your best
  17. you will need the passport for the medical exam. Make sure you ask for your passport at the end of the interview (hopefully everything will go well during the interview). If the only thing missing is the medical, it should be couple of weeks of processing after they receive the medical report. Good luck
  18. you should send them an inquiry here: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/national-visa-center/ask-nvc.html it takes a week to 10 days now to respond to inquiries
