  1. Disclosing this in the DS-160 is the right thing to do. The immigration services do their homework and are ready (not sure why some people are surprised). Be ready to be scrutinized and prepare as much evidence as you can to prove your relationship.
  2. As long as you have the completed return and ALL the W2s and schedules, you should be fine
  3. then it makes sense to re-file then. Please scratch what I said before
  4. unless you are in a hurry, I would say you send the correct I-130 with the I-290b. The worst could be to be denied again and waste some time (undefined). But if you are in a hurry, I would say start from scratch
  5. did the rejection notice give any instructions on how to proceed?
  6. Dont read anything into it. Take it for face value: if there were any issues, they would let you know. Easier said than done, but just relax and wait for a reschedule. good luck
  7. if the application is for employment, you are ok to state you have a bachelor's degree and a master's degree But for education purposes, like if you need to be admitted to a university to pursue higher education, you will most likely require an equivalency of your degrees I went through the same thing with my bachelor's degree from abroad (Morocco). I did the equivalency through WES
  8. you have a lot of reading to do my friend. The resources suggested by @appleblossom are great to get you started and help you through the process. you can always ask questions or ask for details and specifics here
  9. it is not an exact science. System estimates are just estimates, don't take them as deadlines
  10. I believe you can do an INFOPASS to go to your local office and ask for the case number if it exists
  11. Any updates? did you pick up your passport already?
  12. About 3 to 5 business days from issued to make it to Aramex. Keep checking ustraveldocs.com
  13. Great suggestions to use Naturalization certificate (if naturalized immigrant) or Birth Certificate (if born in the USA). All docs presented as evidence must be valid
  14. let me start with this: Every case is different AP is not predictable at all and can be short or long. My wife's case example: she had her interview and they kept her passport in May 2022 and was placed on AP. They called her for a follow up interview February 2023, they still had her passport. They called and asked for a new medical September 2023 and visa was issued October 2023. So, almost 16 months in AP. Ohers have different experiences, and no one can tell you for sure how long it will last. And I will close by this: Every case is different
  15. is he older or are you older? Also, a refugee visa? did he claim that he was not safe in Morocco and felt threatened for his life? and yet he is now in Morocco with no issues? that could raise some eyebrows (I am not judging, just asking)
  16. A background check is completed by USCIS services, and it could be for any unresolved items in the beneficiary's background. was the beneficiary involved in previous applications or previous marriage? did anyone (a previous spouse or fiancée) file for them before
  17. If the benefeciary is a male, and if there are any "flags" in the case, it is normal for the case to go into Admin Processing. The length of AP varies, it could be days, weeks, months, it is all at the discretion of the consulate. the flags could be anything like: -Age gap -Previous marriage(s) -uncleared background checks -...
  18. you could track the passport at the following link: Apply for a U.S. Visa | Track & Retrieve My Passport | Passport/Visa Collection Locations - Morocco (English) (ustraveldocs.com) it will tell you an accurate status of where the passport is
  19. Give it a week or two for the SSN card to arrive. we checked the box in the DS-260 and the SSN card arrived in exactly 8 calendar days after POE without any further actions from our end
  20. need to jump now on getting the medical appointment right away. the medical offices run a very heavy schedule and can take months to get an appointment. You want to get the medical done BEFORE the interview to avoid any other delays.
  21. NVC will schedule the interview based on Consulate availability for interviews: it is not up to NVC, but it is the consulate that decides when they have open slots for interviews. As @Crazy Cat said, you just have to wait it out
