Hi. I recently took the oath in San Antonio with a name change. The name change was a breeze. You will be asked during the interview if you want to change your name again.  If you say yes, the officer will have you sign a name change request form which will be approved and signed by the Western District court of Texas and given back to you along with you naturalization certificate the day you take the oath. Yes, your oath ceremony will be a judicial one done by a judge. Mine was at the UTSA Institute of Texan cultures. There was a judicial ceremony a week before mine in Austin so you could be lucky enough to have yours in Austin. I drove from Ft Hood to San Antonio. I was hoping to take the one in Austin but it was full.

I know, right?  I was worried about it until I actually got it back.  Looks like current passport turnaround time is about two weeks or less (expedite or not) according to the tracker so hang in there

 I had a different experience, so maybe things are different depending on your state. I took the oath last Thursday July 27 with  a name change. I went to the DMV and social security yesterday, August 1 and was able to get a new drivers license with my new name and social security was able to update my info with my naturalization certificate and name change certificate right away. I was given a printout showing my new name. The number stayed the same.  The lady at the DMV mentioned that my citizenship was already in the system when I asked.

After social security, I went to USPS and  applied for my passport. I miss my NC 😩😂. 

Honestly, I don't think Jag can help. As much as I respect Jag, they're not well versed on immigration matters, I'm speaking from experience. I think you should let it play out and if all fails, then get in touch with your senator. Good luck to you guys.

Not a July 2016 filer. I interviewed and approved on June 23rd in San Antonio.  On June 27 I got a notification that my letter was mailed. I received the letter on June 30 and will be taking the oath tomorrow.

You need to lawyer up and she cannot obtain passports for the kids without your consent.

He should be fine. I remember reading about someone in the same situation in here saying that he/she made an infopass and got an extension stamped on their passport. Maybe something he could look into? 

What's your field office? It's just so hard to predict anything with UScIS.

My guess is you're stuck in background check. I was stuck there for nearly 5 months. I applied in Dec 2016 and will be taking that oath next week.

That's good News!! I got the same answer after my  infopass appt then shortly after I was put in line for an interview.

Has anyone taken their oath at the Texan Institute lately? Looking for any input on traffic, parking, and any other helpful info. My parents and in-Laws are flying in for the ceremony. I'll also have hubby, our 11 year old and a 2 year old who's potty training . The time indicated is 12p. Is that the ceremony time or the time I'm to arrive?

Mine took 3 days I believe and it was sent from my local field  office in San Antonio.

Same 505 number has been texting me since Friday. Just received a text again a few minutes ago. I think they're making up for the times I didn't receive texts notifications. Lol

Same update "oath has been mailed". I've already received the letter. 

I received a text too. Tried to log into uscis but it's not working for me. Funny thing is my case has been updated quite a few times in the past weeks and I've never received a text alert. 

Have you tried calling USCIS military number? Maybe they can help out. 

Definitely say yes and then at the interview, she can elaborate on it if it's brought up. Good luck.

I think it's important to also take into consideration whether or not your background have been cleared with the FBI. If you haven't been put in Line for an interview yet, which usually means you've cleared background, your field office can't do much for you. 

What is your online status at the moment? 

Interesting story. 

I think they'll use the country that issued the passport you used to enter the US. I could be wrong so don't quote me. 

I think each state does things differently. My mother, a GC holder, had  Medicaid when she resided  in Washington, DC. She Moved to Texas in February to be closer to us and she no longer qualify for it. Thankfully her new job here has great benefits.
