My partner (USC) and I (Canadian) met each other in San Francisco while I was a student there 16 years ago. Since we're a bi-national same-sex couple, an option of getting married wasn't available to us back then. We moved to Vancouver, Canada to be together since Canadian Immigration recognized same-sex relationships. When the US Supreme Court struck down DOMA (The Defense of Marriage Act) in June, 2013, we decided to move back to the US. We got married in Seattle in Sept, 2013 and applied for a Green Card while in Canada. We got approved and moved to Seattle in Nov, 2014.
