I am a Canadian married to an American. We were successful in petitioning from permanent resident status in 1999 and lived in the US for 8 years before we moved back to Canada so my husband could do some graduate work. While crossing back into the US I was told that I had abandoned my status and would have to re-apply. We have 3 children that will also have to re-apply as my husband did not live in the US for the required amount of time prior to their births. Our children are currently 16, 17 & 19.
This time, we will do it right....
