We met online in January 2006, exchanged messages, emails, and phone calls for a few months, then met in person in Costa Rica in May 2006. USC flew to visit Costa Rican boyfriend several times in 2006. Beneficiary received visa to visit US and POE 11/11/06. Beneficiary overstayed visa and we have been living together since then. SCOTUS declares DOMA unconstitutional on 06/26/13, same-sex marriages start in California 06/28/13. We are married at Sacramento County Clerk's Office on 07/01/13. 08/09/13 submit application for AOS. 11/11/13 Blessing of our Marriage Ceremony, basically the full-scale wedding we didn't get a chance to have in July. 11/19/13 Interview-AOS approved. 11/27/13 Green Card received. Beneficiary was sworn in as a US citizen on 07/25/19.
As of 05/26/20, same-sex marriages will become legal in Costa Rica and we will have our marriage recognized by the Registro Nacional in Costa Rica and USC will apply for citizenship in Costa Rica.
