  1. I sent mine in after I did it, exactly per that instruction. I am also going to send it AGAIN this week with the DS-2001 after fiancée has medical exam. I figure if they get it multiple times they will have to pay attention at least once, lol. Good luck!

The above post should have said "hers" and not "mine" -- the DS-160 needs to be for the local person, I believe.

  2. NVC is generally just a waystation, where your Petition gets logged into the State Department system and then sent on to the embassy. If you were at California Service Center, they are generally holding those up 40+ days after NOA2's right now. Once NVC logs you in you are just there a few days.

  3. Here is my post in the NVC forum from yesterday, with all the stats. You will see that CSC is backed up in getting files to NVC, and the NVC is just now working on Mid-August NOA's from CSC.

For those who are waiting on NVC case numbers for their K-1's from the "slow boat to China" CSC service center, here are some stats I pulled from all timelines on this site. You will see they are currently at about August 16. Here are the stats, with the August date first, then the "yes" for an NVC case number, followed by the "no's". Basically, everyone through the 13th is done (one outlier), no one from the 19th on, and 60/40 on the mid-month folks. Best to all!

  5. Ok, CSC and NVC, your former boss Honest Abe once said: "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time." It's now very clear to me, in watching the timelines of those from the CSC versus the other USCIS processors, that though CSC was processing approvals faster, they then correspondingly bury you by not sending the case on to NVC in a timely manner. There is no doubt in my mind that the way they are collectively rigging the system is for the USCIS sites which are processing faster to then hold their files, thus not to bury NVC. Therefore, when you get a NOA2 at CSC, be prepared for a long wait for NVC to ever get your file and open a case number there. There will always be exceptions, of course, but this seems to me to be a pretty standard issue right now. Our NOA2 was August 21, and no case number yet (and many at CSC the same -- anyone at CSC who is still waiting for a case number from NVC, please post your NOA2 dates here). I have seen case numbers within two weeks for the other centers pretty regularly. Sucks . . . .

  6. Yeah, this is what I got when they informed me of approval and I was just wondering if USCIS ever updates with another "we shipped it" note, or if this is all I will see from them:

On August 21, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283. For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.

  7. Of course all the advice we give here is uninformed, as we are not in your shoes, but some quick thoughts none of which may be helpful but worth a shot:

    1. You and your husband need to reboot, alone and without the bro. This will not happen if you stay in your house. Consult an attorney about what would happen to you financially if you walked away from the mortgage. Many people have. Some states have antideficiency laws that allow you to leave a house with no liability (other than the house being foreclosed). If you can, dump it and start over again. It's time.

    2. You sound like a great woman stuck in some bad parts. Much of the country would love your being from England. You and hubby should think of moving to a coast (west or east).

    3. You clearly love your husband. He needs to wake up somehow. No suggestions on that.

    Best to you!
