  1. I was told that there is an expiration for visa issued. Also told me that it could be a week ONLY after the visa has been issued so you need to fly soon. How true? Please enlighten me regarding this matter?

How long does a visa (F2A) expire?

Mine was 5 months from date of issue

the expiration date on these types of visas hinges around the medical date - grab that date and go 6 months forward.

Very good point, because the medical results are only valid for 6 months

  2.

My 2 kids were around that age when they had their interview. They were asked basic questions like their name, birthday, their parent,s name, what the petitioner does for a living, their mom's birthday and etc.etc.

I kind of figured it was basic questions. Because you are don't have to prove that the visa is not for a fake marriage or relationship. Just to show that the kids are related to the petitioner and know what is going on.

  3. I have a few ideas but has anyone had interviews for kids ages 14 and 12, and what questions they were asked during the interview? I know the interview will be somewhat different than a spousal interview where every dimension of the relationship is questioned, but as long as the link of parent to child exists such as birth certificate and verbal acknowledgement things should be fine.

  4. What happened to your case? You said in your prior post that you "took your time in the NVC process". When did you receive NOA2?

You situation will be very common and lots of people will be in the same boat, these coming months. This is the result of USCIS not approving F2A cases from 2011 until now. You're not alone.

Nothing happened to the case, we sent in i130 in may 2011 and in nov 2011 was approved then sent to nvc. We took our time to pay the fees to nvc due to having to save up the money for them. I am filing for two kids so the application costs are expensive of two of everything. We made sure everything as filed correctly, as we needed some documents from the Philippines, so it took 3 weeks each time to get them. We got case complete in march 2013. This is a big problem that will set us back more than just not getting interviews, this will hurt financially more than anything. We filed our taxes wrong and owe 2,000 and instead of making payments till next year when we can claim the kids as dependents, we can no longer do that. Our budget is really tight right now, and now and I have money coming in june but will have to pay off the tax bill now instead of waiting for the dependent tax credit next year. We will then in turn lose the money we needed to get them school clothes, beds, and will possibly make the plane tickets too expensive to afford in late this year(nov-feb) are expensive prices. I haven't even mentioned the living situation of the kids in the Philippines, the situation is getting worst by each passing month because of family problems. This setback is much worse than just not getting interview. If the delay is going to be very long, I will probably need to go home to get things in order there by doing so will cause us to not have any money for any further advancement in the visa process, so I would most likely stay there

  5. True, if we have retrogression in July you will have to wait a bit longer. Many of the recently approved VSC February-May 2011 filers will complete their cases this month, and if their consulates have availability in July, we might see the cut-off dates retrogress. Still, you are very close to finishing your visa journey but I understand your frustration for not getting an interview for next month.

But what does not make sense is that by nvc own admission they told me that cases that get completed first get interviews first if the priority dates are current. For example if person A has pd of jan1 2012 and person B has pd of feb 1 2012, and person B has case complete before person A, they will get interview first. even though they are both current and with the same visa cetegory and consulate but a pd that is later. So by using this same logic, why would there be a retrogression? I finished my case before they did, regardless of the pd. I should be next for interview and they have to wait for the next round just like I got screwed this month. It does not make sense that there are people getting interviews this week with pd later than me and case complete before me, and next month people would getting interviews that have pd before me but case complete after me. That is why I said in early post to me the pd is useless, because it comes down to first come first server as long as your pd is current. If I get taken out of the interview line because of that, then that is flatout wrong. Let me say this again, as per nvc people who have case complete first get interviews first as long as the pd is current, meaning that I have pd may 3 2011, and if someone had pd of june 2, 2011 and their case completed a month before me, they would get the interview first because they finished the case first as long as the vb is past june 2, if not I would get the interview. By apllying the same logic, there would be no retrogression, just the line and wait time to get interviews would get longer and longer. So regadless of the vsc fliers pd I would get interview first because obviously at this point I would have case complete before them.

  6. Thanks for the info on the cut-off date! 8 June 2011 sounds right on the basis of what we have seen here.

I don't think the supervisor meant that anyone who completed their case before you would get an interview first. The interviews are still based on priority dates, but of course you do need to have a completed case before you can be scheduled. In some consulates it takes eight weeks (or more) before an interview can be scheduled, and if you only completed your case in March, you unfortunately just missed the boat. You should have good news next month.

    Good luck!

Next month will be the same ####### because others will be current and still be waiting more than me. I think it is a pure random chosing. I have checked timelines, and there are some that will be current next vb and still have case complete before me, so I am back of the line again? This can go on for several months

  7. Totally agree with you, but hoping for the best - may be I can win the race this time. Thanks for sharing your info.

I just feel bad because I took my time going through the nvc figuring we had a long time to go before becoming current, and did not think 2 months a big movements in the vb would get us to this point already. We took our time during nvc to get things right and took our time. Now to find out that is coming back to bite us.

  8. Hello Guys,

My PD date Aug 9, 2011 and my case was completed this morning. Spoke to NVC and they said they are working on Mar 2011 and prior.

Just hoping to be current within a few months. IN SHAA ALLAH. Congratulation to all who received their IL's.

I called nvc today and spoke with a supervisor and they told me that the June 2013 vb will be june 8 2011, but interviews get scheduled based on case completed date and pd becoming current. So if you have a short window between case complete and pd current, you will not get interview right away. I find this disturbing because this is like you pouring your guts out to win a race and cross the finish line, only to be told the runner behind you wins because he was prepared for the race before you even though you both started the race at the same time.

  9. Hello all,

I just signed up so I will give you my immigration details. I have priority date of May 3, 2011 and it is for F2A visa for my two kids in the Philippines. I have kept an eye on the status of the visa bulletins for awhile on this site but not signing up till now. I have noticed that there are people getting IL for priority dates after ours, so I called nvc. I spoke with a supervsor and he confrmed that June VB will be JUne 8,2011. BUt the reason that I have not gotten IL yet is because our case was complete March 2013, so anyone that has case complete before gets interviews first. This pretty much makes the PD useless in my eyes. We are still waiting for interview, and the VB will be published before we get interview scheduled this is discouraging.
