  1. We’re filling out the I-864 and have a few questions. I’ve listed them below. - part 6 sponsors employment and income. My income (the sponsor) currently doesn’t meet the minimum income requirements so we are using a joint sponsor in the US to cover us. Does my husband (British citizen) need to fill out a I-864A or can his income be excluded from the form all together? he will not be continuing his current employment in the US. We have 2 children as well who are US citizens. - part 7 assets. I own land in the US. Would I add the value of this under the section on real estate value?
  2. Hi, I have started gathering information for the I-864 joint sponsor. I have listed what I think is needed below. Could you let me know if it’s correct or if I’m missing anything? Petitioner/Sponsor (is citizen residing in UK) -fill out I-864 -provide proof of US citizenship with birth certificate and passport -provide 3 years of tax returns -6 months payslip Joint Sponsor (US citizen living in America) -fill out I-864 -current year tax return and W2 -any other evidence of income outside of the above -3 years tax returns -6 months payslip -US passport and US birth certificate if the join sponsor is in the US how do we obtain original documents for the interview? Also is the I-864 a digital form or will we need to print and scan it? Anything else we should know to help?
  3. Hi, we are working on the DS260 form for my husband to come to the US. We currently reside in the UK and he is British. We’re in need of advice on the affidavit of support. I (the petitioner) don’t make the minimum threshold to be the sole sponsor for him. He’s income here in the UK would meet the requirements but I don’t know if that’s allowed. I’m trying to decide which affidavit is right for us. The I-864 or I-864A? Also do we need to do anything different with a joint sponsor? I take it I’ll need to fill out a I-864 as I’m the petitioner. Any insight would be great.
  4. Hello, I emailed NVC and got the reply attached. I take it they mean we have to pay the visa fees or at least DS260 to keep it open plus continue to login at least once a year. Are we on the right track?
  5. Thanks everyone for your help. I think we will look to defer it for 6 months then fully complete the process. From the information above we are best to start the process and pay fees but not fully submit all the evidence/ click complete. Is this correct? I think we will write to the NVC and also phone them. Does anyone know the best email for this? Does anyone know roughly how long it's currently taking to process the visa once all paperwork is submitted?
  6. Hello, I am a US citizen and had a petition granted for my husband to come to the US from the UK. This petition was granted April 2022. I believe we only have 12 months from the granted date to apply for his US visa. Is this correct? We would like to be able to extend this as we don't feel prepared to apply yet. Is this possible? Also what are the current timelines for getting the spouse visa once you have applied? We were sent to the Texas processing center last time. Lastly we are hoping to get a trip to the US in May of this year. How does that work if we apply for the US visa in April? Would my husband be able to travel to the US and come back before the visa is issued (meaning it was processing)? Any insight and help would be greatly appreciated.
