  1. Seen that one before. Usually they have a girlfriend... Sorry to hear about all you are going through with Uncle T-B. I'm getting much the same with my 91 year old mother (I'll let you fix the p-math, ha). Her major problem now is her knees making it painful to walk, although she still pushes herself to go on 20 min walks 2x daily. She went to the doctor this week and he has convinced her she needs 2 knee replacements. Preparations are under way for her to get it done in 2 months after approval from her other doctors. She texted me today and this was the message "Y TV CD TV V C son Vu by B v Ben V zoo..." Still trying to come up with the translation.
  2. You know what they say, "You can put lipstick on a chimp, but..."
  3. OK, will get right on it grandpa.
  4. I've noticed a lot of your "too tired" and "too sick" for rubias posts lately. Maybe just too old? LOL
  5. Still hating my computer.
  6. Correction: Whirlpool is not related to Frigidaire/Electrolux in any way. Separate companies, however Whirlpool does make Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana, and many of the Kenmore products among others.
  7. I should have said that Costco was great and there was no problem cancelling the order. I thought I had cancelled but they arrived to deliver the fridge. I said "you must not have gotten the message...." They said "no problem. We'll take care of it." And that was it.
  8. Just about 3 weeks ago we had an issue with our refrigerator. It's a French door fridge and the wife apparently didn't close one door all the way. Got up in the morning and heard a lot of noise from the fridge. Sounded like the compressor was working really hard, and it was loud. Talked with a friend that has an ac and appliance repair business and he thought it was freezing up and told me to unplug it for about 12 hours. Did that but nothing changed. Figured it would need a new compressor, but decided not to put that kind of money into an 8 year old Whirlpool (more about that in a bit) so very quickly ordered a new one from Costco that could be delivered in 3 days. Next morning I got up and noticed the fridge was quiet again and cooling fine. I hoped that by the time we returned from work it would be loud again to make me feel better about already ordering a new one. Nope, it was perfect when we returned home. Oh well, at least we will have a new, $1600 fridge. had to go to Lowes that night so I looked at fridges to see what I had ordered, another Whirlpool essentially the same as we had except they changed the ice maker and I hated the useless narrow shelves now on the door. Liked the similar LG better, but we had a bad experience with an LG washer. What to do? Discovered the ice maker in our fridge was no longer working and checked the error codes. Seems that was the source of our original problem. Ordered a new ice maker for $80 and installed it last weekend. Everything is great now. When we built this house 24 years ago it came with builder grade GE appliances, and maybe they were one step up from builder grade. The dish washer was garbage and I replaced that after one year. Never liked the side by side fridge. Freezer side was too narrow, and the ice maker was horrible. When we decided to replace it I checked Consumer Reports and they said the French door Samsung was the best, and that's what I bought. BIG mistake. Just after the warranty expired it died. Internal refrigerant leak and was advised to just by a new fridge. Went with the Whirlpool even though it wasn't top rated by Consumer Reports but it is made in the US and parts are easy to get. No real complaints. Seems like most manufacturers have trouble with ice makers. Thankfully it was easy to fix even with the "in the door" ice and water.
  9. One of my patients goes to TCU (God knows why). Is that school as bad? Sorry. Had to edit as at first I thought she went to Texas Tech. Then I remembered.
  10. We had a similar problem in SW FL after hurricane Irma. I was without power for 2 weeks which was (somewhat) understandable as we were in the eye, and I'm in a bit of a rural area where all homes have at least 2 1/2 acres or more. Of course we were lower on the list for reconnection, but FPL did a decent job with the help of a lot of out of town and out of state linemen. In the next county, Lee county, LCEC (Lee County Electric Co-op) refused to allow for any outside assistance until the Governor put a stop to their nonsense. I don't get it...
  11. I'll bet she won't skate through unopposed. It's going to be interesting. Special K... That's perfect!
  12. And when they realize she can't beat Trump, wonder if they will force her out before the convention.
  13. Won't be a problem for LPR. Global entry approval can be ridiculously strict. My wife and I were denied Global Entry because my wife, who had already become a citizen, had tried to buy a watch on ebay and it turned out it was an unapproved knock off being sent from China or somewhere in that area. She didn't know until we received a letter from customs in Anchorage. We refused delivery and thought that was the end of it. A couple of years later we applied for the Global Entry and at the interview I was asked about buying a watch from China. I replied that I had not (I rarely wear a watch) and was asked the same question a second time. That is when I remembered the issue with my wife. We explained the problem, but since we were accused of importing unapproved items we were denied. I have found, at least for us, our returns from numerous international trips were quick and no problem even without Global entry. We just went with TSA precheck alone for that benefit getting through security.
  14. Half the time I feel like updates are done for no good reason, and often make good software unnecessarily complicated and cumbersome.
  15. You know me too well. Happy birthday!🎂
  16. Is anyone surprised? The left has tried every other way to keep Trump from running. I guess killing him is the last resort.
  17. For the OP and others in this situation I am going to share a tip that may help depending on how it works in your location. When my wife and I got married, instead of relying on the officiant to submit the paperwork for the marriage certificate, I hand carried the filled out and signed marriage license to my county office and received the marriage certificate the same day. Saved us several days.
  18. Come on man. Quit screwing around and get out there to replace those missing shingles and repair the broken fence. I'm sure Mini-B will be an excellent supervisor. Might even be able to resuscitate you after you pass out from heat exhaustion. LOL
  19. And to add to this, I see dems voted against a bill that would require verification of US citizenship to vote in federal elections. That should tell you everything you need to know.
  20. Good to know he and Mini-B are OK, and glad to see the Ex is still taking care of them!
  21. I've lived in SW Florida since the mid 1980's so I've been through a few hurricanes and have my system worked out fairly well. At one time I thought about a whole house generator but the prices had gotten stupid crazy high, and we don't have natural gas so that means a buried propane tank. I just figured it wasn't worth it for an event that happens less often than every 5 years or so. I do have a decent electric start 9000/7000 watt generator that will run the well and/or the hot water heater and/or the variable speed A/C. Some years ago we added a mini split A/C to our large master bedroom that I ordered to run off 120 volt ac. Two years ago we lost power for 4 days after Ian and I used a 2000 watt inverter generator to power the mini split and the refrigerator. That worked so well because that little generator (it's a generic of the little Honda generators) is so quiet and ran both the bedroom A/C and the refrigerator for 9 hours at night on only 1 gallon of gas. The one thing I really missed was TV as we use TV over internet and couldn't keep up well on the local news, just listened on the radio. Solved that problem. Got a small $18 TV antenna from Amazon and I can pull in all the local stations. Since the last storm I've purchased another inverter generator just in case. With the big generator I backfeed the house at the kitchen stove or dryer. Worked well last time. The worst is the big generator is just so noisy. I've also added boots and a better LED lantern to my hurricane supplies. We are on several acres so a couple of chain saws are always ready to go. The cleanup after the storm is horrible and after Irma I had a pile of debris 6 or 7 feet tall that ran 150 feet. That takes a while to gather and months for the county to collect. We are keeping our eyes on the tropics as the season has only started.
