The way I got my credit history started was purchasing a car on finance and having my ex-husband co-sign the loan, though I paid it all off myself. She will need an SSN to do that. The dealership I went to said I was like "a ghost in the system", lol. After a few months of on-time payments, I was able to successfully apply for my first credit card with Capital One.

Oath ceremony schedule ETA
Ketsuban replied to bramerica's topic in US Citizenship Case Filing and Progress Reports
My interview was July 20th and my oath was on September 12th. I think. So almost two months out. My field office is Cleveland Ohio. -
Visiting my wife for Christmas with intentions of applying for CR1
Ketsuban replied to maku's topic in Tourist Visas
I visited my ex-husband about a year into the CR-1 process for a couple of weeks, and I got in no problem. The officer I saw even thought it was super cute and hoped my spousal visa got approved soon. -
Applying for passport at the oath ceremony
Ketsuban replied to ArizonaPHX's topic in US Citizenship General Discussion
That's interesting that the SSA were there to update everyone in the system. At my ceremony, they were not there and we were advised by USCIS to wait ten days from the ceremony to go to the SSA to update our record. I thought it had something to do with SAVE. No passport people at our ceremony either, but at least there was a voting registration booth. -
I-130 approved, flying to US to start AOS?
Ketsuban replied to Daphne .'s topic in General Immigration-Related Discussion
I am tempted to follow the OOP. I really am curious as to how that goes. Wouldn't it be great if that's how easy it was? 😂 I don't know why they haven't questioned why the NVC and consulate processing stages are even a thing if it's as easy as just coming over here unannounced. -
I-130 filed
Ketsuban replied to Haider cheema's topic in Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America
If when they get to your Petition they want more from you, they would hopefully send you an RFE (request for evidence) and you'll have a reasonable deadline to get that info back to them. -
New biometrics appointment
Ketsuban replied to WannabeHuman's topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
I had to do biometrics for everything too, just the way things go sometimes. All of the petitions and applications I was a part of went well without any hitches or RFEs. -
CAN I-130 PETITION CHOOSE EMBASSY
Ketsuban replied to zozomike's topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
I'm not sure if things changed in the past decade but before I moved out here, my ex filed a paper return and put "NRA" (which means non-resident alien) where my non-existent SSN/ITIN would have gone. Does that not work anymore for married filing separately? We amended the return after I arrived with my new SSN and made it a joint filing. IRS didn't reject any of it. -
Greencard adjustment of status

Edit to add the caveat says it's out of date info. So you might want to check if it's still relevant today. -
A tier 2 officer may very well be able to help you. Not a guarantee, but they have more power than the phone reps. I think you should call back, get a rep on the phone and politely but firmly request a tier 2 officer, explaining you sent your medical in but it was not reviewed despite them confirming receipt. It's either that or you would have to pay again. I don't think you should if someone can locate the documentation and review it.

I'm not sure if you can report him to the state bar? I honestly don't know if that is a worthy complaint. That's such a basic requirement for an I-129F that I question whether he could possibly handle complicated cases. If he knew you wouldn't get approved at all and mislead you on that I would even go so far as to say he stole your money. I'm so sorry you had to experience that.

I encountered this scenario when I wanted to live with my then-boyfriend. It just wasn't possible via school or work for me. We ended up getting married and I got a spousal visa, but of course because there was no way for us to know each other properly prior to marriage, we did get to know each other post-marriage, and it didn't work out 😅 One of the drawbacks to international relationships, unfortunately. It's a risk you take. I don't regret the experience at all, though.

I think you will need to write to them and inform them you are filing for divorce and need to convert to divorce waiver, they will send an RFE for the decree (which you won't have due to the one year rule in NY) and then your ROC would be denied. You're in a pretty awkward situation here. You can't go through without telling them in case they approve you without interview, but if you tell them now, the RFE deadline would expire probably before you can even file for divorce. You can re-file after a denial but you do put yourself at risk of being deportable in between the denial and their acceptance of the new I-751.

Book it all on one itinerary/ticket and they'll almost certainly rebook you if CBP holds you up. I was escorted by a very visibly armed officer so be prepared for that. It is very informal and them just looking over the paperwork. Nothing to worry about at all. Just don't open the sealed envelope if that's still a thing.

Rfe about previous petition
Ketsuban replied to Paul3333333's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports
The situation is that your K-1 petition expired because of covid lockdowns? Do you know if the I-129F was approved and sent to NVC and then the consulate? Is this the first you've heard back from them since you filed and got your initial receipt notice? -

I visited my ex-husband a year after we got married and my CR-1 was at NVC. The officer who let me in was a woman about my age back then and she thought it was super cute that I was visiting while the visa was in progress. Hopefully you'll have a similar experience. As others have said, it's a crapshoot, but I think the odds are on your side. -
Maybe call and see if you can speak to Tier 2 at USCIS otherwise you're looking at a lot more money and time for filling the form out incorrectly. Whether you do I-824 or redo the I-130 (which I'm not even sure what would happen if you refile). Either way you are out time and money if you can't get them to help you. They might not be able to.

I couldn't find my old passport since I've moved twice in the past year and things go missing. Wasn't an issue 🙂. They only wanted to see my current UK passport, my drivers license and my green card. I had brought my tax return transcripts and original divorce decree too and even mentioned I had them but she didn't ask to see them.

K1 visa denied
Ketsuban replied to Mounadayf's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports
I think you need to go back to your friend and get concrete answers or have him make an account here. It can be difficult for people to help when the situation changes every post.
