  1. Hi Boiler. The official entity in Colombia for adoptions is called ICBF. My understanding is that every adoption has to be done thru them and only them. The adoption has not taken place just yet. My nephew is asking for help in finding out what is going to happen after they leave the ICBF with these two kids as theirs. Since my nephew and his wife are USC, he though that the process was much easier than explained here in VJ. VJ help is greatly appreciated, but I am recommending my nephew to consult an immigration attorney. Thank you.
  2. Thank you all for your help. The two children are not related to my nephew. Thanks again.
  3. Thank you Lil bear. I am still confused. The adoption will take place in Colombia and at what point the kids adopted can travel with the parents to the US? Do they need to go to the US Embassy or do they have to wait in Colombia until documents are filed with USCIS in the United States?
  4. My nephew is adopting two children (brother and sister) in Colombia. Ages are 12yo and 14yo. My nephew is a US Citizen as well as his wife. Once the adoption is completed, can my nephew just go to the US Embassy in Bogota and process the US Passports with all the documentation? Or does he need to apply with Immigration in the United Stated so they (the children) can enter legally and live in the US? Thank you for your help.
  5. EAD arrived a month ago and SS Card still hasn't arrived. At Social Security office the statement is that the person doesn't exist in the system. Social security employee collected passport information and EAD information. If information is accepted, then card should be in the mail in two weeks. Can anyone elaborate on this? Thank you.
  6. EAD received. Does anyone know if the Social Security card will follow in the mail or at the Social Security office? Thank you.
  7. To sky88: I am sorry for the delayed response. No, he hasn't tried to apply for any medical help. We think this may be an issue for the approval of his status.
  8. I didn't know it takes that long. Thank you for your help.
  9. I understand. I131 will be filed tomorrow with a copy of the I-797C for I-485. Thank you
  10. He applied for EAD but not for AP. His Biometrics are scheduled for this Friday, March 24th, 2023. Thank you.
  11. My son in law filed for AOS one month ago. Doctor's appointment and biometrics appointment already in place for April, 2023. The case seems to be going fast and well. My son in law was diagnosed with a tumor in his neck and needs to be removed surgically as soon as possible. He wants to go to Colombia to have surgery since price of surgery is more convenient. He doesn't have health insurance in the US. I am helping him possibly filing I-131. The question is: Can this be done? Is this something possible (filing I131) with USCIS? Help is appreciated.
  12. Request for Evidence (FORM I-485) Here, USCIS is requesting the medical examination and also the Covid 19 vaccine series. Is this mandatory? Your advise is appreciated.
  13. Does anyone have a template or example of the cover letter to include in the package to be send? Thank you
  14. After I posted on behalf of my daughter, I realized I didn't explain myself. My daughter married a man that came to this country on a student visa from Colombia and overstayed for 12 years. My daughter is a USC and I am helping since I have some experience doing so. First time with a overstayed student, that is my confusion. Do we have to apply for a pardon or just simply file I-130, I-485 and documents. Thank you all.
  15. Why my thread was moved from the CR-1 Process forum to the "AOS from WS&T Visas" main forum.?
  16. No. He is here and will stay here. He is working with an ITIN number and has done taxes for five years. Thank you again for your advise.
  17. My daughter is submitting the I-130 for her husband and we noticed that his birth certificate is not on the list of the documents requested by USCIS. Is this new? He is already in the US and he came to on a Student Visa 12 years ago. Thank you for the advise.
