  1. I don't think you need to worry. My police cert from Ireland had the wrong birth year- I never noticed till the visa interview! Had to get it re-done and got my visa the day I handed in the revised police cert.

The different spelling COULD be an issue, but since it is due to the alphabet again I think you should be ok. You may want to include a letter explaining that though.

Thank you thank you thank you for the reply i was actually going to send you a direct email since i always see you replying on posts.

We never reported this to them do you think its to late to submit it now? I sent them a copy of the passport i just hope they don't delay us anymore.

As for the police report because it is sent directly to the embassy should we be working to get it corrected or will they check on the typo? The interview told my fiancé they needed a certification and they would reach out to him on what was next.

  2. My fiancé had his interview on thur and it went really well but one of the police certificates sent to the embassy from another country he has citizenship in came back with a typo(was missing the first letter of his last name) so they could not issue him a visa that day.

Should we be worried? They told him they would contact us but in a panic he and i went to the consulate where we requested the certificate from on Friday. We were greeted by a rude ####### that made me think we should have something to worry about.

We also discover on friday that his last name has a slightly different spelling on his Greek passport- this is due to the alphabet difference. I sent a copy of his passport to embassy and now i am worried they will delay us even more or not issue us a visa all together because we never reported the the greek translation of the spelling of his last name.

does anyone have any experience with this? what will happened to our case?

  3. hello everybody

my fiance called a tier 2 yesterday and he advised her the following

processing time for I130 takes 5 - 8 months and we should hear something by September as we filed our petition in Jan 14 and advised that our file will stay at NBC where they will make the decision about our petition.

how sure should we believe this information ?

does anyone have similar feedback from Tier 2 ?

please help with any possible info regarding my matter.

    thank you in advance

based on your timeline you should have heard something already. ask to speak to a supervisor- the timeline on this sit was the best tool we had while we were waiting.

Take a look at the look attached it was super fast within two weeks it was already at the embassy. I had to email the embassy to get the correspondence started because they had the wrong email address for my fiance. Follow the chart i sent you i called the NVC center every day until they told me it was sent out and then after a few days it was at the embassy.

  6. Hello again,

I wanted to give an update. The Tirana Embassy will send the Ministry of Justice Certificate to the Naples Consulate no problem. However, my fiancé's brother went to the PROKURORIA (the District Attorney's Office) and the GJYKATA (the District Court) in SHKODER today and they told him that they have no such documents/certificates that would be needed for an American Visa.

I contacted the Naples Consulate to see if they really need those two. If not, I'm not really sure what to do. Maybe send my fiancé's brother back to SHKODER and ask again??? He said it was for an American Visa so maybe that's what confused them? Usually that is the "keyword" for getting documents both in Italy and Albania. As soon as you say "it's for an American Visa", then they know exactly what you need....

Send both consulates an email and tell the about the situation they should be able to give you direction. They are no longer taking hand delivered police records of any sorts so whether the Ministry of Justice send the certificate to Tirana(which is what they do) or to napes its just a difference of addresses no matter what you are paying the fees.

Chances are they will make your fiance apply for the certificate at the Albanian consulate in Italy for the certificate and that can be sent to the consulate where you are interviewing.

Not an expert just common sense based on our experience.

  7. For chat logs I have found this to be a challenge . I own a Mac and made it even harder . What I did was made screen prints of our chats . That was the only way I could do it . I just did first of the month mid and end to show a constant flow of chat . Also one neat things about the screen prints you can show the 2 of you on cam togT

I have a mac too- thank you i will do just that.

  8. What is the reason that he needs a police certificate from Greece when he lives in Albania if you don't mind me asking. My fiance is in Albania, but has been to Greece before so I am just wondering if I would need the same when the time comes.

If they have lived in any country for more than 6 months they need a police certificate from that country. It does not matter where they are applying.

  9. the paperwork to prove it is the police clearance certificate.. period

you can schedule your interview without it, but be prepared for a 221g refusal (rfe basically) and return with the correct document

as I understand it, you are allowed to reschedule your appointment one time.. if you do it twice you have to pay the fee again.. but.. not totally sure

I am thinking that is what we will do since we already have a version of that paper already.

  10. go to your embassy's web site

look at the information pertaining to the police certificate.. probably on the IV page

then call the police department explaining what you want and ask how long it takes

every country is specific.. very few greeks around here, so that will be your fastest answer... by calling the police and finding out yourself

Already did :( they are telling us it takes around a month and a half to get this information back. I am wondering if we should send them what we have an still apply for the certificate as instructed and hopefully they will let us set up the interview while we wait for it.

His record is clean we have the paperwork to prove it they have just changed the rules and now they want it it directly from the greek authorities instead.

  11. Huh?

Usually, people order and collect their police certificates to take/send to the interview. The embassy doesn't do that.

What stage are you at and what are you being asked to do?

We just received our 3rd packet and it says we need to apply for the police records at the Greek embassy and they will not take the ones we have. Same goes for the country we are from.

I don't know how it is in Greece, but usually the one who requests the police certificate gets it (not sent to the US Embassy) either personally or through mail. Then it will be brought together with the other documents needed for the interview.

Apparently now they are all sent directly to them.

  12. Thanks guys!

Do you have your case number? If so, you can go to this web site and see the status. https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=o/iS8zDpeAKjMWCuebHqOw==

*** Thread moved from K-1 Process forum to the Case Progress subforum. ***

Yes emailing any Embassy is a good thing. They are nice people, are US citizens, speak English and want to be helpful. Don't be afraid.

I made a typo in my fiancees birth year when i wrote to the embassy do you think this will be a big deal? i resent the email and corrected the typos? Should i be worried?

I read somewhere that the files are now sent by email from NVC to embassy. Not for sure though. You can try calling. Best of luck!

    Thanks guys!
