It is ok to E-mail but actually phoning depends on the Embassy, some have really unhelpful lines and charge you a fortune just to tell you diddly zip. Good luck.

I like the idea of ID cards, I have worked in the pub business and its tough trying to figure out a person's age, also worked on the railway and believe me it was just as bad asking for id, what I would like to know is why are people so dead against it??

To those of you still waiting just think of it as a learning curve and the many friends who will support you through all of this, most of the people on VJ are fantastic folk and will help you overcome all of this process. Good luck to everyone still waiting and hope it will soon pass.

Congratulations

Jon and I set our date after we got our visa, most do because that is what the papers for this process advise, some set their date before and end up having to reset it because of complications of the process, be careful in what you decide, good luck with whatever decision you come too.

When Jon and I sent our bits and bobs back to the Embassy last year we waited and waited, that was November 06, people were passing us by and we still waited, eventually in January 07 we had our interview and passed, phoning the unhelpful line does no good, they are as helpful as a rattle snake in a lucky dip, the Embassy is just as bad, Take That have a new single called Patience and boy does everyone in this process need plenty of that hope you hear something pretty soon.

It really depends on how much you are wanting to spend, when I was in the states I went to quite a few shopping malls and outlets, my sister-in-law goes to Walmart and finds some quite good stuff, I personally prefered Fred Meyers but I also went to the outlets. In some stores you can have your personal shopper, I laughed at that idea but was soon told off for that lol, must be my sense of humour.

Hi
Stop your worrying, the POE is just there to look at your papers etc, no it is not another interview, they just ask where you are staying and basic questions. Good luck

Go to the USCIS website and look for the I-130 Petition for Alien Relative form. That's the start. The instructions on this form will tell you which other forms/documents/pictures/amount of money you'll need to send with it.Its $190 per petition to initially file the petition.
Thanks

I don't imagine it makes a difference when filing the petition whether its a day, week, month or years. She was still under 18, which is the stipulation.
CR-2 applies to step children if the marriage took place prior to the childs 18th birthday.
Thanks lorelle this is good to know
I filed an I-130 for each my husband and my step daughter, since we were not married more than 2 years at the time i filed, my husband was given a CR1 (conditional Resident) status and my step daughter a CR2( conditional resident) status. Since our second wedding anniversary has past, and an interview has yet to be scheduled, now they are both IR1/2 status( immigrant residents).and thank you too abeba, interesting information

CR-2 Child of U.S. citizen (conditional status). An I-130 needs to be filed
Hi Lorelle
What is a CR-2?? ...Alarna is not the daughter of Jon, so not a child of US Citizen.... I read that a child is a Step child if the US citizen and the fiancee are married before the child is 18 years of age, Alarna was 17 when Jon and I got married, as you know Jon and I were married on the 18th of March 2006, Alarna was not 18 till the 26th March 2006, so my question is does this make any difference??? Can Jon put her down as a US child?? I do not know if I am making much sense here. Please help!!!

Like a good little VJer that I am lol I have been looking at all the guides and speaking with Jon we have decided to go for the CR1, I would like to ask what do I do about my daughter?? Does Jon have to fill in the K4?? I can find no information on the subject, every time I put K4 visa in the search it comes back with an error page. Is this even the correct visa?

Hi everyone
Well I am back in good ole England for now, Jon and I have decided to stay married, but I have a few things to sort out here in England and what we would like to know is what do we go for once I decide to move back to the states to be with Jon.
First of all I am taking my eldest daughter back with me the next time I go back to the states, so can anyone tell me what the options for us are?? Alarna is 18 years old, she will be 19 in March 07, can anyone advise us on what sort of form we have to fill in for her??
Second is what sort of visa can we apply for?? K3 or CR1 what is the difference??
I know everyone on this website is very helpful and I would be grateful for any constructive advice.
Thanks for all your support so far.

Why are you having to go and get a letter from your parents, a couple of photo's will do and the plane tickets, that is all my now husband and I had. I know we worry constantly about what we should have and whatnot but try not too. Good luck with the process.
