  1. Right now she's spiraling down and begging to be sent home. I can't buy her a ticket until after the mortgage payment is made on the first and we have enough money.

She won't reach out to VJ ladies on FB. She hasn't done anything about building a resume or job searches. Doesn't want to to anything anymore.... I got her to come out to the Plantation Days festival, and upon arriving she heard live Filipino music and she got excited. Lasted for a little while before the funk returned.

I'm checking out classes and swim classes. I'm trying to be understanding and loving and not react negatively to anything she's doing, but it's so hard to be patient.

  2. AFter all this journey to get her here, my fiancee is crying to go home because she's extremely homesick. I've taken her to the local Filipino stores, she does chores around the house, she has internet, TV, iphone and ipad games, Filipino magazines, but she's just so distant from me now, and when she's not aloof, she's crying.

She says she loves me still, and I haven't been abusive. She wants us to get married in the Phils and stay there, but I absolutely can't. I just got my mortgage redone, and I can't just quit my job as a teacher and rental property owner.

She won't call people, or go hang out very often, wants to stay in the house that is driving her nuts, but if there are any Filipinas close to her age in Hawaii I would really like to have her call you. Please PM me and I'll see if she'd like to call

She's 24 and is from Zambales. She's only been here 3 weeks, and things started wonderfully, but every few days she'd be weepy and distant from being homesick.

I've cancelled our wedding, and I'm just waiting for the money to book the tickets.

It just breaks my heart that she feels this way.

  3. We got there at 3:30am on a Wed. We were about 9th in line, and at 5 the lines collapsed to that K1's (and another--I can't remember) were on the ramp going to the side door. After that change we were 5th in line. There were about 30 people in all later. Some people got dropped off, and I think they made it in. It's better not to take a chance, and just get there early.

  4. Yeah, me, too, but China Air would only honor us with one pass so we skipped it. On Hawaiian's own lounges we would normally be entitled to one plus a guest, but not on China's "partnership" with Hawn.

Interestingly, when I flew from HNL to ICE (on my trip to meet up with my fiancee, I had a layover in Incheon) the Hawaiian lounge is in the arrival area. When I went to my connecting flight in the departure area I couldn't get to the lounge! Once again I was denied free beer and a buffet! What's the use of the gold membership--heh heh! The lounge in Kahului, Maui is a joke--only coffee and no wifi, and the one in Honolulu, Oahu only has coffee/juice and wifi. Maybe I need a premium membership with a grown-up airline--LOL!

  5. I booked tix for my fiancee and I through Cheapo Air (great prices!) and we flew MNL to Taipei on China Air, TPE to HNL on Hawaiian, and then to OGG (Maui), also on Hawn. I got our miles on Hawaiian and was able to request seats for us at the windows for each segment of the trip. Only bummer was China Air only gave us one pass for the lounge so we didn't get to have our free beers and buffet on Hawaiian's use of the China Air privilege area. Only problem is if you need to change the dates it will be cost prohibitive!

  6. We were in "Ready" mode for 19 days after the interview, until one moment there was a whole flurry of activity. CEAC started saying "Issued" and ustraveldocs, which never recognized any of my #'s, started working. It took a really long time, but once it finally started moving it really moved.

Hopefully soon your checking and patience will be rewarded. We were never told we were missing anything or had any more checking so I'm not sure what to tell you about that part. Sounds like you are soooo close! Good luck.

  7. Can't hurt, but not necessary. My fiancee's brother waited outside with her things, since I couldn't make it. She passed!

At the CFO I was left out and made to wait outside. Eventually my fiancee told me to wait at the hotel room since they didn't need me.

I guess save your money! I was glad though, to be there for the CFO to fly together. Happy times!

  8. I wish I could help you in more detail, but I can't. When I visited there between Christmas and New Year's a few years ago, I couldn't get a last minute room at the nice place on the ocean with lovely pool (forget the name--but don't skip this--heh heh!). I soon found a lot of other hotels a short trike-thingy away (they're different from your typical trike), and you just have your honey watch your luggage and run up and check the room. There are a few that meet western standards of cleanliness and wifi, but beware of the bait-n-switch hotels that have an immaculate lobby, but the 900 peso price is only for rooms next door (with the Vietnam-era war hospital decor).

I guess there's a reason why I can't remember details about that place. The biggest impression I had was when my ex and her family were in a karaoke place, and the cops busted in and yelled for every guy to lift their shirts to check for guns. They didn't ask me to, I guess because I was the only foreigner, and I felt both elated that they were checking for guns and promoting safety, but at the same time--#######--is it common for guys to carry guns when they're drinking??? I guess. Have fun!

  9. Since inhalers are available at most pharmacies, in the Phils, without a prescription, I would merely bring along the receipt it you don't have time to see your doctor. I brought 2-3 inhalers with me, for my asthma, on many trips, but have never been questioned. If you're concerned that you may be seen as smuggling them to sell. . . . I guess a Dr.'s note would suffice, but I'm sure it's not even a problem.

But then again. . . . there have been posts about having to empty your luggage at POE! Maybe I should put my fiancee's cigarettes in MY luggage!

  10. Congratulations!

My fiancee just got her Visa delivered yesterday, so I booked our flights. I'm so excited for you! The NOA2 had been one of the most exciting times of our journey--at the time--you'll be doing a more spontaneous happy dance when that visa arrives!

I am so thankful that I came upon this site and these posters, because if not for Visajourney I would have been lost and so down and out that I would have never made it here. Please do as others have stated and use the guides to make sure you have everything you need. If you have a question, believe me, others have been there and they will not hesitate to help. You've come to the right place!

    Woohoo!

  11. Couple hours ago got "Arrival Olongapo City" and then "Out for Delivery," so I'm hoping sometime today my fiancee will get her visa! I can picture her screaming and lots of neighbors checking on her. So close! Don't mean to hijack this thread, but . . . . I'm human. I think.

  12. 2GO just said "In-transit" then Shipment accepted by customer then back to In-transit. Ustraveldocs switched to "out for delivery." Mind you, there were results the last three weeks at these sites (interview approved 8/27), but CEAC has been there with Ready, AP, Issued for the last few days. Then got an email from ustraveldocs that the packet is being delivered.

Hope we'll be right there behind you guys.

  13. Entered fiancee's MNL# and CEAC says "Issued." 2GO never worked at all, with any numbers, until tonight I got "In-Transit" then "Accepted Shipment from Customer" then "In-Transit" again while using Hank's UID # (well, not Hank's but you know what I mean). Meanwhile, ustraveldocs (which never worked until tonight) gave a response about something then it switched to Out For Delivery. Just getting responses instead of Invalid ID, etc was encouraging!

I hope things are getting closer, and my fiancee will receive her visa soon. It's so confusing, and I know a lesser man may give up completely. There were so many times I just wanted to say, "To HELL with it!" but I keep trying. I guess I just need to vent more before I completely snap--heh heh!

  14. Haven't had any luck with ustraveldocs, until tonight when it read something (I forget) that gave me hope--then an hour later it went to "Out for Delivery!" During that time 2GO (which never worked either) until an hour or so ago went from: In-transit to Shipment accepted by customer to In-Transit again. I'm finally beginning to believe that my fiancee will have her visa soon!

She was approved at her interview on Aug;27, and this has been a longer than normal wait-time, don't you think?

I pray my honeyko will get the packet tonight or tomorrow so I can take advantage of United's decent rates lately. I also wish I could have booked their free flights last Thursday! Oh, well. I can wish, right?
