I did misunderstand Redro. I have asked questions in the past and there are people who ask you questions that really have nothing to do with the question you are asking. I'm sure it is pertinent info but not what I asked. In my mind, right or wrong, fell into that category for me.
Everyone has been helpful in spite of me misunderstanding. My apology and thanks for the info.

I'm still interested in the kinds of questions they might ask during the interview. They just want to be prepared.

Redro.
They are coming to visit their mother, my wife. They will also visit their other family members living in the US. I've know them 11 years and my plans are to live my life. Now their plans are to visit family and see America then go back home.
Salish Sea. They have good ties to go back. Their stay? Don't know but it won't go beyond the visa.

My wife has been here a little more than a year now and her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter are getting ready for their interview at the American Consulate in Guangzhou. They are asking me for preparation questions so that they can practice before the interview. I've looked almost everywhere and haven't found any. Anybody have a clue where to look or what they might ask?

Yes she has her green card.
Thank both of you for answering.

I've always heard that when a person comes to the US that they needs to stay in the US for 2 years. If they go before that the US doesn't have to let them back in.
Well, my wife has been here almost 10 months and she may have to go back for a few weeks. Her mother's health is deteriorating significantly, and my wife fears the worst and I have to say I agree with her. As they were talking this morning, I thought what if???? What do we do?
I searched USCIS to see but didn't find any help. Maybe I searched the wrong place but I don't know.
What should one do to ensure they are able to get back into America due to a death in the family?

Might want to explain to them that they have no path to adjust status and stay in the US while visiting.
Already done.

Seems like they would be more than happy to send you copies of either the screen shots, or the documents themselves.
You would think so. I suggested it to them and am still waiting. They have the ability.
Quote15 hours ago, Jorgedig said:I thought they wanted to be sponsored for immigrant visas. But now you’re saying they just want to visit. So which is it?
We can't sponsor them at this time. Now they want to visit. I can help make sure the paperwork is good. The rest is up to them.

My wife's grown daughter, her husband and their daughter want to come to America for a visit on a travel visa. They filed 3 application and submitted them on the ceac website. The fees have not been paid yet. Before they pay, they want me to check the paperwork out since it was in English, and they had to translate everything. I can't get access through ceac to the paperwork to verify the data. Is there a way for me to retrieve a copy of the paperwork to see if there are errors so they can correct them prior to the interview in Guangzhou?

I appreciate all of the replies. I have already spoke with my wife about it. She is not happy but understands. If her family wants to come it is up to them to figure it out. Ireally feel for the granddaughter. She has a marvelous talent that needs schooling.
I could write a book about the SIL but won't do it. I love my wife too much and thank God she isn't like her sister.
For the record honesty is always the best policy. You may hurt some feelings but feelings for good people heal.
I think we are done here.

Look under "eligibility requirements" here: Bringing Children, Sons and Daughters to Live in the United States as Permanent Residents | USCIS
Got it. Thanks. It's up to them to do their own work. Whew...

Other than your SIL's potential as a joint sponsor, how would se be involved?
Rather not say. But believe me not in a positive way.

What paperwork? Where does your wife's sister fit in the chart I posted above?
There isn't a chart posted. There is a link to something I am unable to access.

Wife has a green card but is not a citizen yet. Daughter is married and has one child. I don't make enough money to sponsor all three of them. My wife's sister is a citizen but is a royal pain. She won't do the paperwork but wants me to do the paperwork her way which will be wrong, and it won't fly. (Was the reason I asked so many stupid questions for my wife's paperwork because of the sister's interference.)

If I do the paperwork and turn it over to her to sign and file, will that work? I remember there is an area in the applications I filled out that askes who prepared the paperwork. Then the question becomes timeline for that way.

My wife has been here almost 8 months now. Life is good but now she wants to bring some family, mainly her daughter, son in law and their only child of 14 years old. The child has a great talent that needs to be fostered and trained or educated more might be a better way of saying it. The school here in the US agrees and is accepting her at their school and has written her an admissions letter for the school. It's a prestigious school.
So now the intensive work begins but I don't know where to start and what to do. I don't have the time to research it as I work way too many hours right now. If you have good suggestions, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance, T Town Hombre

At first I had a lot of canceled transactions through wire services. What I am about to tell you is to be used with caution and financial protections set up in advance. More on that later. What I did, with the approval of my bank, was to open another bank account and mail the debit card to China. Right now I am hearing no's from many on this site but it was the most successful method I found. You really need to build trust with this.
Make sure the money you send is in a manageable form i.e. transactions that are in increments usable on the Banks ATM's in China. If memory serves 2500rmb is the increment.
To use the debit card method isn't without problems. You will get fraud alerts often and you will have to call your bank and give approval to disbursements in China. Secondly place withdraw limits to protect yourself. You never know when it comes to money and how easy it is to abuse something like a debit card and possible perceived unlimited funds that could be available to the person on the other end.
Fees are less this way too. There is an ATM out of network transaction fee and then a 1% fee on the balance sent from the bank in China.
I would send 2000rmb at a time and my cost was a little over $5.00 per transaction.

To do this yourself, you must have excellent English language skills, the aptitude to understand technical sentence structure, and the willingness to do lots of detailed homework. This is all true regardless of any red flags or how simple the case might be.

Then I printed the forms, then I highlighted, the fields, that still needed to be filled, and where more difficult to obtain. I did this for 4 weeks. Once my forms where all correct, I went on USCIS website, and pulled up the latest form, copied all the info into that form,
This is great advice. When I did my I-130 l learned quickly that pushbrk always has solid advice.

Well my first post on this thread is not understandable. Must have been half asleep when I posted. However, I was trying to ask this, If the interview is finished and the applicant is approved, where can someone see how the visa status is progressing at CITIC?
The answer is www.ustraveldocs.com. You will need to put the Applicants country and passport number to follow.

Is there a place on this site to give a person an idea when they might receive their visa based on the consulate the interview was held in?
-
My wife is getting nervous about the interview. She wants me to call the consulate and explain what I can't be there are the interview. The last I checked the Chinese consulate was not approving visas due to the pandemic. But she tells me that western men are there with their fiance or wife at the consulate.
Any advice at this point. Interview in about a week.

Boiler I know. I've thought about this a lot. It took us 10 years to get my wife here because we had a "non Bonafide" relationship; in relationship 12 years and married for 10. But she's here thank God and been here 17 months now and were living the dream with a lot of bumps along the way.
It just seems to me that the American government prefers people to come here illegally rather than the legal way. Her child just wanted to come and personally verify that things are good for her mother. I'm sure she hears about the bumps more than the good and if it was my parent, I would want to verify myself. It just seems to me that legitimate people get the shaft from the American government.
But the good book says, "in this world you will have tribulation." It's the truth my friends.
Happy with my lovely wife here.
