Boiler I know. I've thought about this a lot. It took us 10 years to get my wife here because we had a "non Bonafide" relationship; in relationship 12 years and married for 10. But she's here thank God and been here 17 months now and were living the dream with a lot of bumps along the way. It just seems to me that the American government prefers people to come here illegally rather than the legal way. Her child just wanted to come and personally verify that things are good for her mother. I'm sure she hears about the bumps more than the good and if it was my parent, I would want to verify myself. It just seems to me that legitimate people get the shaft from the American government. But the good book says, "in this world you will have tribulation." It's the truth my friends. Happy with my lovely wife here.

Well, they didn't get a visa. The reason I'm told is because neither one of them have a college education. I don't think that is a requirement. I'm assuming the interviewer thought they were at risk of disappearing in America.

I want to thank everyone for their replies. I put all the info into an email in both English and Chinese and sent it to my step-daughter. Her interview is about a week away.

I did misunderstand Redro. I have asked questions in the past and there are people who ask you questions that really have nothing to do with the question you are asking. I'm sure it is pertinent info but not what I asked. In my mind, right or wrong, fell into that category for me. Everyone has been helpful in spite of me misunderstanding. My apology and thanks for the info.

I'm still interested in the kinds of questions they might ask during the interview. They just want to be prepared.

My wife has been here a little more than a year now and her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter are getting ready for their interview at the American Consulate in Guangzhou. They are asking me for preparation questions so that they can practice before the interview. I've looked almost everywhere and haven't found any. Anybody have a clue where to look or what they might ask?

I've always heard that when a person comes to the US that they needs to stay in the US for 2 years. If they go before that the US doesn't have to let them back in. Well, my wife has been here almost 10 months and she may have to go back for a few weeks. Her mother's health is deteriorating significantly, and my wife fears the worst and I have to say I agree with her. As they were talking this morning, I thought what if???? What do we do? I searched USCIS to see but didn't find any help. Maybe I searched the wrong place but I don't know. What should one do to ensure they are able to get back into America due to a death in the family?

You would think so. I suggested it to them and am still waiting. They have the ability. We can't sponsor them at this time. Now they want to visit. I can help make sure the paperwork is good. The rest is up to them.

My wife's grown daughter, her husband and their daughter want to come to America for a visit on a travel visa. They filed 3 application and submitted them on the ceac website. The fees have not been paid yet. Before they pay, they want me to check the paperwork out since it was in English, and they had to translate everything. I can't get access through ceac to the paperwork to verify the data. Is there a way for me to retrieve a copy of the paperwork to see if there are errors so they can correct them prior to the interview in Guangzhou?

I appreciate all of the replies. I have already spoke with my wife about it. She is not happy but understands. If her family wants to come it is up to them to figure it out. Ireally feel for the granddaughter. She has a marvelous talent that needs schooling. I could write a book about the SIL but won't do it. I love my wife too much and thank God she isn't like her sister. For the record honesty is always the best policy. You may hurt some feelings but feelings for good people heal. I think we are done here.

Wife has a green card but is not a citizen yet. Daughter is married and has one child. I don't make enough money to sponsor all three of them. My wife's sister is a citizen but is a royal pain. She won't do the paperwork but wants me to do the paperwork her way which will be wrong, and it won't fly. (Was the reason I asked so many stupid questions for my wife's paperwork because of the sister's interference.) If I do the paperwork and turn it over to her to sign and file, will that work? I remember there is an area in the applications I filled out that askes who prepared the paperwork. Then the question becomes timeline for that way.

My wife has been here almost 8 months now. Life is good but now she wants to bring some family, mainly her daughter, son in law and their only child of 14 years old. The child has a great talent that needs to be fostered and trained or educated more might be a better way of saying it. The school here in the US agrees and is accepting her at their school and has written her an admissions letter for the school. It's a prestigious school. So now the intensive work begins but I don't know where to start and what to do. I don't have the time to research it as I work way too many hours right now. If you have good suggestions, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance, T Town Hombre
