William, from Boston, England, was studying in Minnesota as part of a semester exchange program and he ended up living in the same residence hall as Amanda. They met in August 2001 - the first day she moved in for her second year. They became good friends and stayed in touch and then two years later, when William made a return visit to Minnesota in 2003, he fianlly(!) told Amanda how much he liked her and they began the long distance relationship. Then, on April 30th 2005 William propsed to Amanda and she said yes!!
