Medical Insurance for New Immigrant.
Cathi replied to jese_1981's topic in Moving to the US and Your New Life In America
Yes. -
Doesn't matter. If it was good enough for immigration purposes, it's more than good enough for the DMV. The green card is sufficient, ask for a supervisor. My husband used his green card, he was never asked for a marriage certificate. Why would they ask for a marriage certificate to begin with? Most people aren't married when they get a license or even a real ID. Did you present the marriage certificate as ID without being asked for it? My son didn't get his license until he was in his twenties but he got an ID from the DMV when he was 16, a marriage license wasn't even on the list of approved documents required for identification. You cannot get married again, when you're already married. Period.

What is "just answer"? Why would you list the accident? Even IF there was a settlement, it went through insurance. Secondary is NOT being detained. You're over thinking.

This plan isn't going to work, go home and wait for your visa number to become available. -
Experience with USCIS under Trump's 2nd Term
Cathi replied to vanhiscers87's topic in General Immigration-Related Discussion
There are just as many, if not more, lies and falsehoods coming from conservative media regarding legal and illegal immigration. Lies and conspiracies do not have a political affiliation. -
Doing research and visiting my US partner on ESTA
Cathi replied to Happy_go_lucky's topic in Tourist Visas
Anxiety can get the best if us all, it's very big of you to apologize. I know you said that this thread has been discouraging, I get it, you need to understand that people here are only telling you the truth of the matter. No one here is going to give you false expectations, that wouldn't be fair to you. Immigration is very stressful when coming to the US, even in the best of circumstances. The current administration is looking to stop most immigration/visas to this country, unless you fall into the billionaire class. Every last detail will be put under a microscope and scrutinized. I wish you the best. -

It's not up to the embassy (DOS) to make that decision. -

Understood, BUT millions who have gone before you have said the same and proceeded to do the opposite. You don't need to convince me, it's convincing CBP you need to worry about. I know it's discouraging and no on is telling you it's impossible, we're just letting you know the reality that it will be an uphill battle. -

Expedite request I-130 ?
Cathi replied to Selena123's topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports
Unless you give us the reason you want/need an expedite. no one can answer you with any accuracy. -
You can meet in another country, there is no getting around the meeting in person rule. If finances are a concern, you're going to have a lot of trouble getting a K-1 because of the cost, plus the requirement of having the ability to support your fiancé once they arrive to the U.S

Seeking advice on B2 and K1 visa
Cathi replied to Enixxo's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Right now the K-1 and CR1 are following the same timeline-give or take a few weeks. By FAR the CR1 is the superior visa and costs less than half of what a K-1 costs. Not to mention the fact that with a Cr1 the person has a green card immediately upon entry to the US, they can work and travel immediately. With a K-1 , they must adjust status, wait for a long time for the ability to work and travel out of the country. There isn't a person here who wouldn't agree that the CR1 is the superior visa at this time. -

Thank you for everything

Congratulations! It's so nice when everything is said and done. -
You cannot compare Wales to Pakistan. Pakistan is one of the highest fraud countries when it comes to visas to the US, Wales is on the other end of the spectrum.

Just because you think her fear is unfounded, doesn't mean it is, especially coming from Pakistan, one of the highest fraud countries. Three visits in such a short amount of time is not normal and again, no one can predict what CBP will do.

Fourth DV charge/conviction? I'm surprised you haven't been deported yet, domestic violence is a CIMT, even if only a misdemeanor. Even a single conviction of domestic violence can lead to severe immigration consequences. Defendants who are not citizens of the United States should be advised that in many cases a single conviction of domestic violence can lead to removal, deportation, or denial of naturalization.
