You dont need to have any worries. My wife who was then my fiancee was 13years older than me. She came to Ghana once and spent only 6 days but I had my K1 visa very easily. Its all about the evidence and duration of the relationship. My and I were communicated for 18months before she came to Ghana.
I also know a guy who came here on a K1 and the fiancee now wife is older than him 21 years difference.

NLR...thanks for explaining and making me understand you better. Have a nice week tooYou guys are reading more into my comment and taking offense when none was meant. I am relating info obtained from a conversation i had with my husband and his best friend BOTH of whom serve. (Well hubs left but still works for the govt.) Most of our friends do serve or have. Their annoyance was mostly with people who don't even have a green card but join the military to become legal and get citizenship. Since I'd never thought before that perhaps that judgement was there, I thought perhaps someone elae may like the insight. Apparently not however, so I sincerely apologize that you're offended by learning this.
I've previously mentioned in another thread how people can join the military with a 2 year card and positive benefits of doing so, including naturalization sooner.
Have a nice week, and again I apologize you took offense.

My post was to provide answers to people who aint sure they can noin the military with 2-yr GC not YOU!! It's sad that we have people like you here who have nothing positive to say but to cast doubt and see things with myopic lenses from what people post here. So any foreigner who joins the U.S military does so for papers? I could still live my civilian life and still get my naturalization cos am still married to my wife.Absolutely you can because in general they don't want non-USC being able to shoot someone for the US government.
However, be aware of the judgement that may arise from US born citizens who feel that people join just to get the naturalization faster. Because people do it just for that vs the actual desire to serve the US government military.
*In anycaes, everybody joins the military for a reason including U.S citizens. Most of them I met is because of students loans. Are you not doing your present job for a reason? What not any other job than what u doing now? Moreover, signing to join the US Army isn't a guarantee that u gonna graduate. So many people couldn't make it but I have made it. To serve the best Army in the world and be part of the 1% or 2%/of the people serving is enough satisfaction for me.
Thank you NLR. A word to a wise is enough.Does it really matter if Naturalization was their primary intent? Most people join the army any way for personal benefit, whether it is GI bill, loan forgiveness or naturalization. I believe anyone that serves completely deserves those benefits, even if that is their primary desire. They are still doing more than most people. People that don't serve have no right to judge.

I am not awaiting it in the mail or other means apart from receiving it at the end of the oath ceremony. Am am awaiting to receiving it on my oath ceremony. Yes, you become a U.S citizen when you the military cos that's a federal job and all federal jobs required that you are a citizenSo you can become a citizen sooner just because you join the army? I had no idea..You say you are awaiting your naturalization certificate...aren't you going to attend an oath ceremony and receive it there like everyone else?

I came here on K1 visa in Dec 26, 2013 to be with my wife. I received my 2-year Conditional GC in March, 2015 and decided to join the Army. I initially started with the Navy but my recruiter was too slow so I switched over to the Army. *You can't join the air force unless you have a 10-year GC.
I graduated 3 weeks ago and have now earned the title "American soldier". It was almost 10weeks of training. I had my Naturalization test and interview today which i passed. Am now awaiting my Naturalization certificate which I anticipate to receive soon.
I hope this provides an answer to somebody's question he/she is finding an answer for.

You can't join the air force with a conditional green card. They only accept the 10 years. You can join either the Navy or Army with your conditional GC. I joined the Army with my conditional GC and graduated 3 weeks ago. Am awaiting my naturalization certificate. Good luck

AB loves AG, u are right. My EAD expiration date was the same used for my DL expiration

I applied for my EAD renewal 90days to its expiration and had a letter to go do another biometrics. My EAD was approved and went into Card Production less than 48hrs after biometrics. In all, it took me about a month from EAD renewal application to card delivery.
-
From the day USCIS receives the application
-
My personal observation has been that it takes between 70-90days for EAD approval. Good luck!!!

Finally received my GC today. I filed on March 3, 2014 ( 1year 28days). Good luck and hope the remaining March 2014 AOS Filers receive their GC. See yah all again during ROC.

Am a 2014 AOS March Filer. Had interview waiver in June, 2014. After almost a year, USCIS sent me an RFE for medicals, vaccination supplement in Feb 2015. I had it done in a week and sent it to them in Guam. Just after 2 weeks I received my Welcome to America letter and my GC is on the way coming.
Good luck

The waiting time varies from your local office to that of others. It doesnt matter whether you filed before some people or they did before you. All depends on your local office and the work load they got. I applied for AOS long before some people and they had their card far before me. I just had mine after waiting for 12months 15days. Good luck

IT IS SAFE to travel on AP. I used mine to travel back home to Ghana, Africa last Dec 2014 and stayed for 5weeks. I flew through Amsterdam and nobody asked me anything. On my return to the US, the immigration officer at JFK rather stamped my passport extending my AP for a year (Jan 2016). No questions were asked leaving and retuning to the US.
YOU ARE VERY SAFE. By the way, my AOS is finally approved.

I STRONGLY don't think it has to do with your length of visits not being enough. My wife visited me just ONCE and for only 6 DAYS in 3years and that wasn't an issue. Once you have been denied and its gonna be difficult "fighting" back. I strongly advise that u go the CR-1 route which u have already started.
Good luck and everything gonna fall in place.

In all, I did 4 Service Requests and one Expedite

Thursday March 12 would be one-year waiting for GC. It sulks!!!!

My AOS is still pending awaiting the issuance of my 2-year conditional green card (Waiver letter since June, 2014). I travelled to Ghana for vacation (35days) on Dec 25, 2014 using my AP and never had any issue.
I flew KLM and made a transit at Amsterdam Airport without anybody even asking for a look at my passport. All that was asked is my boarding pass.
On my return to the US at JFK on Jan 31, 2015, nothing was asked of me. My passport was rather stamped extending my AP for one year until Jan 30, 2016. My current EAD/AP combo card expires on May 14, 2015.
That notwithstanding, am still waiting for my GC which would be a year waiting on March 12, 2015.
I hope this info puts to rest those afraid to travel on AP.
- AOS filing; March 3, 2014
- NOA; March 13, 2014
- EAD/AP; May 15, 2014
- Interview Waiver Letter; June 27, 2014

Filed AOS on March 3, 2014 and had receipt on March 13, 2014. received interview waiver letter on June 21 asking me to wait for 6 months, The 6 months is due on Dec 21 this week..THEN I just received another letter from USCIS dated November 21, asking me to wait another 6 months (next year May, 2015).
I called USCIS and spoke to a Tier 2 (immigration Officer) but he just asked me to wait for the 2nd 6 months . This doesn't make sense to me a bit.
-
That's absolutely appalling. Did you ask USCIS for an update? Please let the other NPIW people know over in the main thread (link above).
I called USCIS and spoke to Tier 2 (Immigration Officer) and he said nothing new. Asked me to wait for the next 6months as stated in the 2nd letter sent me

After receiving my interview waiver letter on June 21 asking me to wait for 6months which would be on Dec 21 this Saturday, I just received another letter dated November 21 asking me to wait for another 6 months. Does this make sense? My AOS receipt date is March 13, 2014.
-
I submitted my AOS since March too and had the waiver letter in June but haven't heard anything since then. Mine is Atlanta Field Office.
-
Yes, I had interview waiver dated June 27. That was one thing I never wanted to have since it takes long and therefore the day of ROC also prolongs.
