Sassiringa,
We are Chicago too...my husbands n-400 was rec'd on October 2nd, he did fingerprints in early November and then we've heard nothing since then.
I called the same day the uscis processing times were updated (Wednesday I think) and they put in a service request for his case as well. They told me if I don't hear anything in 15-30 days to call back.
Here's hoping for some news in the next week or two...don't understand why Chicago is so incredibly slow..
-
Is the Chicago office slow or something?
My husband sent his N400 and it was rec'd on October 2nd, 2015. I can't remember exactly but j believe he did his fingerprints on October 26th, 2015 (it was for sure in October).
We haven't seen anything since then. What does "in line" mean for the timelines posted?
I looked up the processing times and it says they are working on June 29, 2015, so I can't put in an inquiry. That is as of 12-31-15 so over a month ago.
Just getting confused seeing some processed ahead of that when they have the date of June.
Any input appreciated

Got a text and email at 6 pm today that our case was updated!
It said on April 9th we ordered for card production! Glad the waiting is over for this step good luck everyone!
-
This waiting game is much better with my husband in the country this time =) I'm not going to be checking the status online like crazy...like I used too ha.
They seem to be pretty consistent with 3-4 months from what I've seen. That time frame may be a little longer with the VSC cases possibly transferring to CSC, but still in very good time frame compared to other types of applications.
-
iaia, thanks for the input! Our is close to us, so we will try it, but if not then my husband will just have to adjust his schedule for the actual appointment.
Are you in Illinois? Would you mind Private messaging me which ASC location you went to?
-
Got the biometrics appointment letter on 11/13/14. The scheduled appointment is for 11/25/14
We may be doing a walk-in bio appt. for next week. Has anyone been turned down for doing an early walk-in? For those who did an early walk-in what did you say?
-
We received our NOA yesterday (11/6), but it was dated on the receipt notice as 10/31/14...nice Halloween Treat
-
Our check was cashed, so that's a good sign!
For those who have gotten biometrics appt., how long after receiving NOA did you receive notice for biometrics?

I was originally in September filers...but our application was rejected due to wrong version of form (rookie mistake on my part)...
Anyways, we refiled. Application sent on October 30th, 2014 (arrived the next morning).
Oh and we sent to CSC.
-
Well all, I will be moving to October filers. Our application was rejected and I was only able to find this out after emailing CSC after 30 days that no notice arrived. I feel very stupid...it was the wrong version of the form. I guess I had saved it to my computer and used that one instead of downloading it directly from the site when it was time for us to file, so I saved the earlier version.
Anyways refiled last week...so I guess I'm October now. Good luck to everyone!

I am so discouraged right now. I called USCIS to find out where the heck our packet it....
We have not received NOA, the check has not been cashed etc., so I have no idea if they have entered anything for it.
They said I have to wait until it has been 30 days since it was "received" according to the USPS notice that I have. I said well what will be the process once I call? The next steps? They said then they can move me to a Tier 2 officer to ask if it has been received.
I would not even care how long it took for the I-751 to get an approval as long as we have my husband's I-797 NOA (okay, I would care if it was more than 6 months, but still). I just don't want to be in the situation where we are close to his card expiring
-
Thanks for the input! I guess I will be calling tomorrow...
-
I'm getting a bit discouraged. We sent our application on Sep. 22nd. It arrived on Sep. 24th and I have not seen check cashed in our bank account, nor have we received any NOA. I used certified mail and got the green return card saying it got there, but have heard absolutely nothing. Can I call on it? What would I even ask if I did...
It was sent to California Service Center.
-
We did in fact send out our package on Monday Sep. 22nd. It arrived yesterday I believe, but I have not seen check cashed yet or NOA, so probably next week.
-
Did you all send personal checks with this application or money orders/cashier's check from a bank?
-
Thank you! This is going to sound stupid but I can't remember how to update my signature! I updated my timeline but for some reason it's bothering me! Your insight into this is greatly appreciated
Ha I just was trying to figure that out! You go to your screenname at the top right (drop-down menu) and go to my settings. It should be on the left saying signature

My husband's GC expires on Dec. 21st, 2014. We will be filing September 22nd, 2014 at the CSC.
Here is what we are including:
-Money Order for $590 to Department of Homeland Security
-Signed and Dated Form I-751
-Copy of Permanent Resident Card (front and back)
-Copy of Marriage Certificate
-Copy of both U.S. citizen and resident driver's licenses (showing same address)
-Car Insurance Policy with both names on it
-401K Plans (both U.S. Citizen and Resident's showing spouse as 100% beneficiary)
-Joint Checking Account History (bank statements)
-Change of my last name to Permanent Resident spouse's last name (evidence: bank account)
-Marriage Certificate from Church Wedding (June 20th, 2014) - we were married by court first, but were finally able to celebrate our marriage in the church
-Pictures from wedding (with our son too)
-Documents from Travel Together (honeymoon)
-Affidavit of Support (from permanent resident's father-in-law) - also stating that we are living with my parents while we save money for a house.
-Affidavit of Support (friend of U.S. citizen - attended our church wedding and knew of our relationship beforehand)
-Phone records between Permanent Resident and spouse
Am I missing anything or are there any suggestions of other things that I could add?

Is there some kind of spreadsheet somewhere, showing where everyone is at in the NVC stage? I thought I saw it somewhere the other day, but I can't remember where
-
Through Electronic filing, are there any documents that the beneficiary needs to sign??? We have a lawyer filling out our paperwork, and as the petitioner I will need to sign some things, but does my husband (he is in Mexico right now)?
-
If you do NOT call an operator at NVC, then, when a case number is assigned, they'll generate a package and send it to you. If they have an email address on file, they'll email it to you, otherwise it will be snail mail and can take awhile to receive. That's why I recommend to call. Lately, it's been taking NVC 3-4 weeks to assign a case number, so you probably won't get yours till early May.
Unless your case is not "normal" (ex: past criminal charges, overstay), I'd suggest dropping your lawyer as this process is completely feasible doing it on one's own, and is usually better as lawyers mess up because they're not up to date on processes, or they're slow at getting or sending information, etc.
She plans on doing Electronic Processing since it is through Mexico and she said my previous lawyer and/or myself will probably get the email from the NVC. I would do this process by myself if I did not need a waiver for my husband, but since we do need one I would rather have a lawyer preparing one, especially one that works specifically with waivers! Maybe I will ask my lawyer if she can call them though or if I can call them to ask or at least give them my email..
-
Please can anyone give me some advice...this thread is really long to go through, but I was wondering how you know when you have a case number? My lawyer says it is her responsibility to contact the government and in our contract, I am not supposed to do it on my own. I just retained this lawyer recently, so the I-130 still has information from my previous lawyer.
Should I be contacting my previous lawyer, will the NVC contact me at all? Just a little confused...our I-130 was approved on April 9th, 2012, so I am just trying to figure out when it is likely that we will get a case number! Any advice? Thanks!
-
I bet some people don't update their timelines...I did because I know how important that list was when I was waiting, so I updated mine right away, but maybe some people don't really even look at that list and know how it helps others who are waiting...Anyways, it seems like they are finishing up October

Happy I get to join the NVC April Thread!! NOA2 on April 9th (Monday). When will I most likely get my case number? My lawyer said to have 1040 and W-2 forms ready to go for me and my dad (joint sponsor), but I saw on the first post, it might just be better to have tax transcripts...I already have the tax transcripts from the last 3 years, should I ask her if we can use those?

Sassiringa, what questions did they ask at the interview?
We just got the notice today for the interview- my husband's interview is set for September...so it seems like they are all over the place with Chicago...
Also, how long after the interview (if everything goes well) does it usually take for the oath ceremony?
