Jose Luis and I met in 2008 when he was here through a volunteer exchange program through the Mennonite Central Committee. His host mom worked across the hall from my mom and one day invited me to come salsa dancing with her, her husband, and her "foreign exchange volunteer." Jose and I became good friends which then grew to love. We became a couple on June 1, 2009 (a month before he went back home to Bolivia). Since then, I have visited him in Bolivia once and he has visited me 3 times in the United States. Jose proposed to me on one of his visits on April 4, 2011 and we began our "Visa Journey" in June. We are getting married Sept 8 and couldn't be happier :)
