  1. In order for you to work in the USA you must have an EAD (Employment Authorization Document). When You first arrive in the US, your passport should be stamped with an I-94, this will give you the ability to work in the USA for 90 days. After this, you can not work in the USA until you have filed the AOS (Adjustment of Status) process and have received your EAD and 2-year green card. It would be in your best interest to have your college transcript(s) evaluated by a credited education evaluation agency. As my memory serves me, there are 2(two) agencies in the USA that do this. Getting a job, good job, in the US is not that difficult, just time consuming.

As an example, my gal, a filipina, was unable to get a good job here in the USA until she got her 2-year green card. Your experience may differ.

    Best wishes,

    Sid

Hi, im wondering about this I-94 that you mentioned here. I don't have mine when i enter the USA, does that mean some will get it and some won't?

  2. Not as we speak, as I got that information from my fiance's friend who is familiar with the immigration law...

In the meantime I found a very helpful article:

    http://jnusblog.takimedia.com/eng/?p=197

There is a fine line and it is very easy to break the law while volunteering and most of all, without a work authorization you cannot be providing services or labor for an employer for wages or other remuneration (including free meals, transportation, any type of academic credit, or any other type of benefit)- by running your husband's business you are already breaking that by receiving free accommodation, meals etc. Would be probably hard to prove that you are doing it voluntarily as the profits stay within the household...

Thanks a lot sabi, you're so helpful as always. goodluck for your incoming interview...

  3. One thing about online business is that your American spouse can be the legal online business owner and you can be the one that assist without pay.

If would be like if you own a store and your spouse gives you a hand for no pay.

You have to be extremely careful because you can't legally work.

That is what we think of doing but i am still wondering if they would scout detailed information as that because he has a job and having a business online means someone other than him is working on it, which would mean me..thinking about staying at home for months definitely bore me when he is working, plus it's a good thing i can help him have an income.

  4. It said in bold font, "For Filipino applicants, who claim no prior marriage(s), please obtain a 'Certificate of No Marriage' from the National Statistics Office and this must be sent directly from NSO to the Immigrant Visa Unit, Consular Section, American Embassy Singapore, 27 Napier Road, Singapore 258508. this Office will not accept the certificate submitted by individual applicant."

They give a a site where to request a cenomar and the site said 6-8 weeks delivery for Philpost but we can email them to have it delivered through fedex but it didn't say how long then.

Any Filipinos who are processing their application outside Philippines (doesn't mean in sinagapore only)who could share their experience is greatly appreciated...

  5. Hello, i just received my packet 4 and interview schedule will be on August 21. In the packet 3 it was clearly stated that they will not accept Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) from individual applicants but it should be sent directly from the National Statistics Office of the Philippines direct to the US Embassy. Does anyone have idea how long does it take to request a CENOMAR online? I'm scared it wouldn't arrived on time though i will have it sent through FEDEX,there is no information how long..help help i'm getting nervous! I have my copy here which i took personally when i went home last January but it was clearly stated that it's not acceptable. Can anyone share there experience? Thanks in advance! Any advise please?

  6. Hi Guys,

I have received Packet 3 today. I have questions, hope someone can help me.

    1. They have attached DS 230 Form but it is an obsolete version expired on 4/30/2012. Do i have to use it or i will use the downloaded from website 6/30/2015 expiry?

    2. They also send DS 156 Form, but it is supposed to be filled up online. Do i use the form they send as well or i will stick to the online filling up?

    3. For the Certificate of no marriage of Filipino, it is said that they will not accept certificate submitted by individual applicant but it has to be sent by NSO direct to their office. Anyone can share their experience? How they do it?

    Thanks in advance..

  7. Sabi, your fiance sounds exactly like mine! I had to send him detailed emails about what to do etc, plus "business" skype calls to go thro forms...!!!

Last sunday he was filling in the I-134 and he was shocked when I told him he had to send it by slow mail.. he asked me if I could just copy his signature! No way! Dont want to jeopardise my visa to save some money on a stamp! and he told me once I'm there I'll be taking care of all the paperwork, bills etc.. LOL

My fiancee sara80 is an opposite one. he seemed to be more meticulous than me when it come to paperwork and now he sent me everything he has forwarded to USCIS even if i already have the copy..just to make sure for my interview:).i told him before(in a joke), once i get there i want to rest for a while and depend on him coz i'm a bit tired of being the father of my family hehe..

  8. Thank you thank you co-vj members! This site is a great help not only for answers to our questions but for expressing ourselves for this journey, really this waiting process has tested our patience.. Thankfully, we are approved after 149 days (yesterday) but we didn't get the text message until few minutes ago... It's a big relief, now we can start for another step! Really it was a big relief!

For those who are still waiting, specially january filers like us, good luck! It will really come, we were so worried for us but it did come. Your time will come as well..from both of us, we love you all!!!

  9. Call the NVC in a week or two (the forums on NVC can give you a better idea of when to do this). Get your case #. Once you have that case # you can contact BKK via email to determine IF and WHEN they have received your application.

As soon as they have it, as Ning stated, you can send in Packet 3 you have downloaded from the website and they will schedule your interview (Packet 4). I would highly recommend doing this as many people never get a packet 3, and you can start working on it immediately. Just don't send it until they confirm they have your case.

Hi, Where can we download that packet 3 from? can you give us a link? it's a very good idea.

  10. I woke up to TWO approvals this morning. Originally I thought Nigeria still allowed the K3 visa so I went the route of completing the I-130 which was forwarded to the California Service Center. When I received the NOA1 from them, I completed the I-129F as instructed for marriage (not fiance) and received an NOA1 from them with that petition going to the Texas Service Center.

Both peititions were approved EARLY THIS MORNING! I woke up to text messages and emails! (Yes, I registed on the USCIS website for electronic notifications).

    I'm ECSTATIC!

    Woowwww!!! Congratulations!

  11. In Ireland you don't need to have a case number to undertake a medical examination, all you need is a passport number... There is a risk of course as the medical is valid one year but a lot of us here are willing to take it to speed things up once we are approved :)

Oh good for you there! Wish we could do it too in Singapore but they don't conduct medical exams if there is no request from the embassy, i already called many times:( That would speed up the process a lot!

  12. Still no NOA2 here either...

I just collected my medical results and if i can suggest something guys, ask your doctor to give you a copy of the entire medical! Otherwise you will only get a copy of DS 3025 which is vaccine record only. However , when you have a copy of the entire medical and USCiS loses your results ( which happens very often) when you apply for AOS, you wont have to go to a doctor in the US just send them a copy of your medical and you save a lot of money :) just a Suggestion that can save you some time and money later on :)

Hi, how did you go on the medical exam without the documents yet?
