  1. Your oath ceremony sounds a bit like mine was. Quick and to-the-point but not very ceremonial. Also, my interviewing officer corrected some blanks and errors on my form too, that I'm 100% sure I didn't make. When I saw the corrections on the tablet I was like "I definitely didn't do that though??". Like entering 0 in my total number of marriages instead of 1. The officer said almost everyone makes that mistake... which made me think that it was probably a bug with the online form.
  2. Congrats to @AndrewSeattle and @ctrlplm for becoming citizens! 🥳 @ctrlplm any news for your spouse's case? Also hoping to hear good news soon from @Woodpecker07 who has their interview today! @Duggu yay, the wait for an update is over! I think for everyone out there still waiting, there's no reason to worry when you're still within the estimated timeline. Yes it's frustrating to see people who applied later get their interviews earlier than you for no obvious reason but.... the USCIS works in mysterious ways. Trust that most applications get processed without mistakes eventually. 3. That's exactly what I was about to reply. I didn't see any indication that the officer was choosing questions, but of course I couldn't see his screen.
  4. Fingers crossed for @AndrewSeattle and @koski who both have their interviews today! 🤞
  5. Definitely take the tax transcripts, especially if you didn't upload them. Just a couple weeks ago someone interviewing in San Francisco was missing evidence of filing taxes for one year and could not be approved.
  6. Congrats! If there's one thing I learned throughout the immigration process, it's that there is no small talk. When it feels like small talk, it just means that the officer is really good at getting information in a friendly, sneaky manner, lol! Let us know once you hear back, hopefully soon. 9. When you look at the processing times for N-400 on the USCIS website, it says that it's for applicants under the general provision, and that cases under the 3-year rule (spouse of US citizen) may take longer. No idea if it's true in practice. Other potential downside is that you may be required to go to her interview if she chooses that option. If I were her I would select the general provision and still send key elements of the evidence she had prepared (like I said earlier house title, kids birth certificate, tax transcripts...). No need to open the door to more questioning.
  10. Did you look under the Documents tab? That's where it should be, like the interview letter.
  11. Definitely general provision since she qualifies for that. I would still upload tax transcripts, kids birth certificates and title for your house in both your names. Also it's HER petition at this point, she's filing for US citizenship, not you. She needs to be able to say why SHE wants to become a citizen when asked. Even if you're the one usually dealing with paperwork, make sure she's involved in the process.
  12. I thought so too 🤷‍♀️ He also asked if we had ever lived apart. Weird since I got my ROC approved exactly 10 years ago. I didn't even have an interview back then, evidence submitted was sufficient.
  13. Just to add that I had my interview yesterday, and although I applied under the general provision, the officer asked me questions about my marriage. It can't hurt to submit a few key pieces of evidence of bona fide marriage. He specifically asked about joint property (house, car) or both being on the rental agreement, being on the same health insurance plan, and whether he was with me on my last trip abroad. I had already submitted tax transcripts that showed we filed jointly.
  14. Congrats @Sahar1122 ! That was a quick interview. I think mine was about 30 min. 15. People were doing their best not to scream because the room was quiet, but were jumping up and running away as the cockroach approached their seat. Nothing like a big ugly bug to help a group of strangers bond, lol! Your oath ceremony sounded amazing! Obviously I'm very grateful that I got a same-day oath and I'm done with the whole process, but my ceremony felt about as exciting as checking a box on a form. I wish it had been a bit more meaningful to mark the importance of this event.

  17. Back home and all done. I'm a US citizen now! 🥳 Full account of my experience below. Tldr: I waited an hour for my interview, then an hour and a half for my same-day oath ceremony. Interview went well but the officer asked me multiple questions about my marriage, even though I applied under the 5-year rule, and looked at evidence of bona fide relationship when I offered. Oath ceremony took 5 min and was anti-climactic. My appointment this morning was at 7:35am. Between being nervous about the interview and my pollen allergies being horrible this year, I barely slept. When I woke up at 6 I was glad I had prepared my folder with all documents the night before because my brain wasn't functioning! The field office is a 20 min walk from my building, and I arrived around 7:05 to a long line of people. Intake was chaotic to say the least. Some people had interviews as early as 7:15 but were stuck in the line. Eventually the security guard had all the people with interview times before 8am go to another entrance around the corner... and then we waited in line again. Once inside it wasn't clear where to go, but I eventually found the check-in area. They took my picture and fingerprints and sent me to a waiting room on another floor. There I waited a whole hour, until being called at 8:35. I believe I was the last one remaining of the group of people with early appointments. The officer who interviewed me was a pleasant and personable young man. I apologized for my raspy voice and we started chatting about allergies. It was all very casual and friendly. We started with the civics test, here are the questions I was asked: name one American Indian tribe; what is the name of the Vice President of the US; we elect US representatives for how long; if both the Vice President and President are unable to serve, who becomes president; what stops one branch of government from becoming too powerful; what is the capital of the US. Then we went through the reading and writing test and joked about the stylus on the tablet being so awkward. He informed me that I had passed the tests and he was now moving on to the application itself. Here besides questions about my recent travel history and employment status, he asked a good number of questions about my husband and our marriage. I didn't expect that because I applied under the 5-year rule, and I went through the ROC process 10 years ago. I'm still happily married to my USC husband so I had no issue answering, but that was a bit of a surprise for me. For example he asked if we owned property together, if we had ever lived apart, if both our names were on our car title, if we were on the same health insurance, etc... I had brought a copy of my lease agreement so I offered to show him that it's in both our names, and he did look. I also offered to look up my health insurance information on my phone but he said it wasn't necessary. I didn't think about it at the time but I could also have mentioned that all our tax transcripts, which I had with me, show that we filed jointly. Eventually he moved to the yes/no questions from the N-400 form. To the question "have you ever been a member of an organization or club?" I said no except if you count gym membership, and he said that since I said it he had to write it down. He then made me verify my information on the tablet, asked me if I agreed with the statements in the oath of allegiance, and congratulated me for being approved. He asked if I wanted to take the oath the same day and I said yes. I was sent to another floor where I had to check-in and give my green card - fun fact, my 10-year green card had just expired yesterday. I was given an envelope containing a letter from President Biden, a guide about what to do after the ceremony (passport, SS, etc), and a voter registration form, together with a little flag. I was directed to a waiting area and told my oath ceremony would be at 10:30am. It was just after 9, and the coffee shop within the building was closed so I just sat there and waited. Everyone was silent until a giant juicy cockroach fell from the ceiling and started trotting around the seating area. Eventually we were called by name and given our naturalization certificates. Interestingly it has my picture from my ROC biometrics 10 years ago, and not the picture they took of me when I checked in today. We were shown a video with President Biden congratulating us, then we had to repeat the Oath of Allegiance after the supervisor who was officiating the ceremony. Everyone in the entire room did it at the same time and because she spoke fast, we definitely missed some words. It was all over in 5 minutes. I did feel a little emotional when the video with the President welcoming us as new citizens started, but otherwise it felt like a formality and lacked the decorum I expected. Visitors and guests were not allowed. In the end we were able to take pictures in front of the flag, and people were all taking pictures for each other.
  18. And as I'm writing this there's an enormous cockroach cruising around the waiting area scaring people 😱
  19. Just had my interview and was approved! I'm now waiting for my same-day oath ceremony. Will report on the whole process later - mostly waiting a lot.
  20. It's not a requirement to upload/send with the application, but you definitely want to be sure you have proof you filed/paid your taxes every year at the interview. Just a couple weeks ago a member I follow couldn't get approved at interview because she was missing documentation showing she filed for one year. So I would obtain tax transcripts from the IRS (you can get the last 3 years online, if you're filing under the 5-year rule you can request the older ones by mail using form 4506-t you download on the IRS website). If for some reason there's a transcript you can't get, bring a copy of your tax return and W2 for that year.
  21. I'm awaiting my citizenship interview, and am currently enrolled in TSA Pre to make air travel more convenient. I used my green card to enroll in the system. What happens once I get naturalized? Can I update my status and provide my US passport as the supporting identity document, once I have one? Or do I need to completely re-enroll? I couldn't find the answer on the TSA website or by googling the question. Surely someone else here has had to go through the process?
  22. Based on the Timelines they were still doing it as of March of this year, but there's only a handful of members data for 2024 so I can't tell for after that.
  23. I have my interview on Tuesday in San Francisco, a field office that does same day oath ceremonies. I'm crossing all fingers, toes, limbs, etc and knocking on wood that all is going to go fine, and I'm well prepared. I even went to the USCIS building on Friday and talked to the security people to ask for advice about how early to show up, lol! (Helps that it's 2 blocks from my gym). If I do get approved during the interview, how does the same day oath ceremony work? Is it automatic for anyone approved that day? Do you have to request it? I'm curious to hear about people who have experienced it.
  24. I just checked the tax transcripts and they show the amount withheld during the year. We both do regular salaried jobs.
