My fiance's K1 has been approved!!!!!!!
Her interview was April 1st and today its May 8th - approximately 5 weeks of AP. Those of you in AP, keep your chin up and keep yourself distracted with school, work, etc. One bad mistake we made is talking too much about this situation and continuously feeling bad for ourselves. Don't do that.

Wow...mubarak/congratulations on finally getting approved!! Extremely happy for the both of you.
Its been exactly a month since our interview - and the case status was finally posted last week as well. Inshallah things will start moving along and ours will get approved soon too. Start looking at tickets!

I must rate "completely insane" on the checking scale...my fiancee's visa is in AP at the embassy and they told us to check the status of the case on their website 4-5 weeks after the interview. the interview was 9 days ago. I've been checking maybe once every 10-15min during the time I'm awake... so excruciatingly frustrating. Wish there was someway to know what is going on. Goodluck to the rest of you all and hope everyone gets to be with who they want to be with.

Hi all,
My fiancee had her K1 visa at the Abu Dhabi Embassy on April 1st - her case was put in Administrative Processing and was told to check her case status in 4-5 weeks. My first worry is that its April 3rd and her case status is still not showing up. This is what the website reads:
"No information has been found about the application number you entered.
Please check carefully the number you entered. Your case number is clearly listed on your 221(g) refusal sheet and on all official correspondence from the Embassy regarding your immigration case. Please note the standard format for case numbers."
How long does it take for the system to update to at least show her case as in Administrative Processing? Should I contact the Embassy and let them know? For those that went through AP at the UAE embassy, how long before the website showed your fiancee/spouse's case?
Secondly, I've read a couple of members' posts about their own experiences about going through AP. From what I've gathered, its important to contact the local congressman and get them involved. I know its just been a few days for me, but I did call up my congressman's office today and they informed me to get back to them after 3 weeks (also, they told me that congressional inquiries really have no affect on AP). What other steps can I take to help make sure AP is as short as possible??
Pretty frustrating process. I thank all in advance for their answers.
I already posted this same question in the main K1 visa forum and I just figured out how to post in the UAE forum. Sorry for the double post! I hope someone knows how to remove the other one. Thanks!

If I posted in the wrong forum, I apologize - I tried to post in the UAE forum, however, I couldn't find the post button :/

Also, I am a naturalized United States Citizen so I have an Alien Registration number from when I applied for citizenship. Do I need to include that number on all my forms even though I am now a USC?
Thank you.

I should have rephrased my second question: Can she apply for an extension of her tourist visa and stay here until it is time for her to go back for the K1 Interview?
And what do you mean by she needs to show "proof of times" to the UAE? She has a Dubai resident visa and multiple Dubai entry stamps in her passport.

Hi all,
First of all I've found this website to be a great resource, but I do have some lingering questions about the K1 Visa that I would like to have addressed.
I am a graduate student and United States Citizen studying in Texas and my Fiancee is an Indian passport holder residing in Dubai, UAE. She currently holds a tourist visa that is valid for the next 7-8 years.
I would like to bring her here in January 2012, but from the information I've gathered, even if I file today, that will not be possible using a K1.
1) If I file K1 ASAP can she come here in Jan 2012 on the tourist visa without hampering K1 processing - granted that she will return to Dubai to complete the interview and other particulars?
2) Let's say I do not file K1 today, instead she comes here on her tourist visa in Jan 2012 and I file the K1 while she is here in the States. Can she overstay her tourist visa while K1 is processing and go back only for the interview and return once K1 has been issued?
Thank you!
Inviting Wife's Family to Visit
in Tourist Visas
Posted
Dear all, I had a few questions regarding the B1/B2 visit visa.
I want to invite my wife's family (specifically her sisters) over to America to come visit us. The DS-160 online application asks about immediate relatives living in the US and we have listed my wife's name. In the pull down menu asking about the relative's status the only options are US Citizen, Permanent Resident, Non-immigrant and Other/I don't know. Currently my wife has filed her I485 and we recently received a letter saying her application has been sent to the California processing center (So we married within 90 days of her arrival on the K1 and have filed to adjust her status). So she is not a permanent resident or 'on K1'. Would other/I don't know be the correct option?
