My fiance lives in Vietnam. I heard from friend that during the interview process they require not only my our birth certificates but our parents. This is not listed as a requirement on the I-129F form. I have my birth certificate, but my parents don't have theirs. They lost it in Vietnam 30 years ago. What can I do? Please help. I am very worried.

Yeah, maybe I should have said Americans instead of white guys. It absolutely floors me how I can say a few simple words to a waitress in a restaurant, and she will gush on and on about how wonderful I am, I can speak Vietnamese! Well, no I can't, not really. I get lost in a conversation easily. But why does it have to be that way? Most men (and I say "men" because I have yet to meet a single American woman who is trying to marry a Vietnamese man) seem to make very little effort to learn the Vietnamese language. Or Chinese, or Thai or Tagalog, whatever.

To my mind, how can you really know your wife too well if you can't understand a little of her language? You will never know how she thinks naturally without translation. She has made great effort to learn English, shouldn't you return the favor, at least for the sake of her family? Hats off to those who go the extra mile, I know it's not easy, but is anything that's worthwhile easy?

I agree. I am still trying to decide which learning program to buy. I was looking at a few yesterday. I have to be able to download and burn to C.D. since I am away from home for months at a time and can't have them readily delivered.

When I was in Germany (86-88) I started out by learning all of the foul language, then the insults and finally any terms that might apply to me so I would know if I was being insulted covertly. 20 years later I'm not worried about foul language and insults but I still want to know who's talking about me!

There is no need to waste money on a lawyer for this type of case. You could pretty much do it yourself.

Tram and I were going through all our paperwork to get her prepared for the interview when ever it comes. She told me she hand delivered the packet 3 to the consulate, but i found a mail reciept for it that she kept. She explained they would not accept it and they told her to mail it. Apon hearing this news i had her promptly call the consulate to confirm they received it and to ask if they have an interview date for her yet...

They did!! They say they received the packet 3 and sent her the packet 4 (have not seen it, but we will go bug the guys at the consulate tomorrow about it) and they have given her an interview date of December 10th!

Baring no delays she will be here for Christmas! This has been our goal all along! Wooohooo!!!

If you don't remove the flag prior to her interview, the chance that she would be here for Christmas is nada....

My wife and I are going to Vietnam agian in 2008. This will be our first trip back to veitnam since she came here. WHAT do I need to do to be able to get a hotel room with her without having to be suspected of bringing a ####### to my room? ....Also...my wifes fiance will be going over as well and we are trying to come up with a creative way so that he and his fiance can share a room in a decent hotel. I just hope you can find more persuade way to explain to her about the the life in this country. From what you had posted, Your wife got bore and want to move closer to her sister only. About the job, it is a B.S excused she got (don't get mad on this) It is truth. Plus, if you want your relationship to last dont let her get into the Hair / Nail career. I had seen a lot of bad thing happened for a lot of people here in Southern California. Especially, in the Bolsa area.. Orange County. Plus get something for her to do or send her back to school. If you are ready then have a baby.. This will cure all her boredom.

For my case, my wife wants to be close to her sister in Portland. But I say no to her. I got my job and my house here. I dont want to move to any place else beside Calif. Plus, if i move, will there be a job available for me and good retirement package for me later on in life? Not too sure right? So the case is closed, no further discussion. I even told her if she doesn't like it. She can leave..... IF the person love you, they will understand and compromise each other. At some point you have to be strong, you dont have to please them all the time. Woman they just think for them self only not for other. Be strong bro, Good luck..

Just had a question, who on VJ have been introduced to their future wives from their Fiance's Vietn amese relatives. With the Petitioner being of American descent and the Fiance being of Viet namese descent. I do not believe this would be a problem, I believe that saying that you met randomly online would be worse than your Fiance's relatives thinking highly enough of you to introduce you to a member of their family. Just my opinion. I have known my Fiance's Aunt for 12 years. She lived right next door to me for 10 years! I have evidence to prove the neighbor thing. I am traveling to Viet nam in July to stay with my Fiance and have become certified to teach English as a foreign language and we will rent a house and live together until this Visa process is completed. Anyone think we should mention that I have moved to VN to be with her and have been teaching and living together, or do you all think this is a bad idea? Anyones input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and I am very glad that there are many success stories out there! I am also disgusted with all disater and heart breaking stories as well.Right now we are waiting on NOA2. I will also be teaching my Fiance English so she will be very prepared for the interview. My Father is a Viet nam war veteran and accompanied me to VN. We had a Formal Engagement Ceremony at her house and we were greeted by all of her Family (Including her 87 year old Grandmother). Well, the interview didn't go so good as I've posted in the past. I think it was predetermined that we were going to get the blue slip. They ask my fiance how we met and then went on to ask her if she had any relatives in the US. She answered yes and that was the end of it. All they did for the next 5 or so minutes was ask about that. The blue slip had stated that she need to show proof that her Aunt was not related to me and show proof that she is not living with me. The other thing was that they wanted bank statements and credit card statements showing that I purchased the both my plane tickets back which I provided. I was given a green slip and told to go home and wait. It's been about a month since then and last night my fiance received the green form they mailed to her. It basically stated that I only spent 2 weeks back in Vietnam and met her and fell in love in a short period of time, so they are suspicious. It also stated that how can we, in a short period of time invited 100 people to attend our engagement party. This is such bull...in a village...you can gather 1000 people in an hour if you want to. They think it's all a setup. Another thing that bothers me is that they said my birth certificate is a fake. This is my birth certificate in Vietnam. I had this translated and certified at the city office in Vietnam. How are they going ot tell me it's a fake? This is unbeleivable.

I'm very sorry to hear about your bad news. There are so many other couples who are Vietnamese of both sides and they can pass the interview.

First, you should go on action as quickly as possible now. Hire the suitable lawyer and ask him to help. I don't know if you did that yet??

Second, you should recheck the whole of your case now to see what reason to make them delay and send your case back to USA. There are so many points they will require for to believe a real or fake relationship: time of your relationship before engagement, how you know together, time of acquaintance, number of trips you come back to VN, relationship of her relatives with you before engagement, .... The wedding and the pictures would be nothing if your other evidences are not strong enough. In this situation, you must have evidences to prove that your relationship is true and have a good lawyer.

Third, you must check with your fiance to know how she answered to the CO, sometime she was so nervous and might answered some wrong things.

A Blue sheet means your case is a delayed case only, I didn't think that your case could be in serious situation as now.

A Green sheet means that they would send your case back to USA early if no action.

Please ask for help from laywer as soon as possible.

Well, we had only known each other for 2 weeks before i made the plunge but my parent's had met her prior to me meeting her. I've been back to Vietnam to see her twice already. Once when we met and ther second time was during her interview. I had already prove to them that I have no relationship with her relatives. I've only spoken to her Aunt once and that was after I got back from my first visit which was after the engagement. My fiance was not that nervous during the interview so she answered everything honestly and truthfully. I provided hotel receipts where we stayed....tour tickets with both our names in it...plane tickets i bought for her to fly out to Saigon with me....etc...etc.... I am in the process of talking to my Lawyer right now. I am using the office or Robert Mullins. From what I've heard, he is a great Immigration Lawyer. I am so shocked and depress right now...My fiancee couldn't stop crying last night...i spent all night trying to supportive but she couldn't get a hold of herself.

Robert Mullins is not a lawyer. He's just a consultant. He's currently being sued by a lawyer in Little Saigon named " Charlie Manh" for fraud. The case is pending in the superior court. If you don't believe me, you could ask Mr. Mullin directly.

The office of Robert Mullins in CA is supposed to be good. I will be frank with you here and I hope you are strong to face what lies ahead of you. First of all, there is nothing the laywer can do to stop or delay the Consulate from sending back your case. As I've stated before, USCIS will notify you with a letter of Intent to Revoke and you have 30 days to response. This is when your lawyer steps in and you guys must reply in 10 days since I have seen cases closed before the 30-day deadline. Basically, this is your chance to appeal for a more favorable decision. Your lawyer must write a letter to rebuke the Consulate findings with more NEW PROOFS of your bona-fide relationship. USCIS will review the letter then either approve or disapprove your case. If they approve, they will send the case to the NVC again and then back to the Consulate for another round of interview. This whole process is closed to starting from scracth again. If they disapprove, then you must appeal in immigration court for file again. This is a whole new ball game I am not familiar with. From what you posted here, the Consulate really think the marriage is sham. You must utilize your lawer and make sure he is staying on top of this. I am very sorry to see this happens to you. Please PM me for my cell phone should you need to talk more. As I said earlier, be prepare for the real challenge ahead. It is not going to be easy and fast. Thanks for help Kevin and thanks for providing the support. I just got off the phone with my Lawyer and he told me he will put together a package and have his lawyers in Vietnam try and stop them before they send the application back. He has been successful in the past and has stopped them. He told me that we can ask them precisely what is the reason and they can ask them to hold off and we can provide more proof before sending back. This has worked for others so I am hoping it will work for me. Hope is all I have left along with my fiance. If this doesn't work then we will have to wait until it comes back to USCIS and he will rebut it. If that still doesn't work then we will have to file K-3. Man this sucks....our relationship is real yet we get denied but I've heard so many people who has deceive the Consulate and get away with it. It's just not fair. Life is not fair. I now know how everyone who has gone through this feels. This is so depressing...I feel like dropping everything and go back to see her...but I can't.

A quick way to get over this is to have kid....They will not deny your case if you have a kid with your wife!!!!

My wife had her interview last month in HCMC, and she was given a 221g. They requested my tax return, previous addresses, my family/relative info (i.e. ssn, addresses, how they immigrated to the US, etc.). Has anyone else dealt with the 221g? How long did it take? What were the results?

Have a kid, they can't deny your case. Look at what Chicago Man did when his cas was denied.

I was talking to my girl on the phone an hour ago. she told me the DSL was down, never mind that. we talked for about 2 hours then I had to go to a meeting for 30 minutes. after I came back I called her again and here is the msg " Thue bao qui khach vua goi hien khong lien lac duoc, xin quy khach vui long goi lai sau".
