  1. Hello! I am considering petitioning for my mom, only because she has been denied a tourist visa when she renewed it. She previously held a 10-year tourist visa and used it twice to visit me. She stayed for 4 months during her first, and the second, which was a few years later, was 5 months. Apparently, these long visits seems to be an “issue” during her renewal interview. I am a US citizen, and I can just easily -although a lengthy process- to petition my mom, but she does not want to immigrate here. She only wants to come visit. I guess my question is: I am not familiar with the rules of the I-130. Is this even a good idea to pursue this if she only wants to visit? The visit may only be once or twice every 2 years for 1-2 mos, if that. What steps does she need to take to maintain her status if we go this route? What are your thoughts?

  3. Hello! I am a US citizen and planning to petition my mom. She does not really want to immigrate here, but her B2 visa renewal was denied recently. So I am thinking my next avenue is to just petition her. I have a limited knowledge regarding the process of filing the i130, and my questions are: 1. Once I file, and lets say she went through all the hoops (medical, interview, approved) will she be granted a green card once she arrives in the US? What is the validity of that card? 2. Since she does not really want to stay here more than 3 mos, can she leave the US longer than a year?
