IR-5 Interview - petitioner’s naturalization certificate needed?

My wife has petitioned her mother to come here on an IR-5 visa. She just received an interview date in early February at the consulate in Ho Chi Minh City. We are trying to make sure she has all of the documents she needs at the interview.

We are confused, though, about whether she needs to bring proof of my wife s (her daughter) citizenship status - i.e., naturalization certificate or US passport. The confusion comes from reading 3 different things in 3 different (official) places. One says to bring ORIGINALS (and copies) of ALL documents uploaded to CEAC (which would include her naturalization certificate). Another official source says to bring proof of status such as a COPY of naturalization certificate or US passport. And the checklist that my wife s mother has to print and bring to the interview doesn t mention bringing proof of status at all!

Obviously, we will have her bring a copy of my wife s naturalization certificate and passport. But I m just wondering if we need to risk mailing her official certificate to Vietnam, given how unreliable and slow mail service can be (in our past experience).

Anyone know for sure if the petitioner s official (original) Certificate of Naturalization is needed at the IR-5 interview in Ho Chi Minh City?

Thanks in advance for any help!

The USCIS approved our case some weeks ago and it feels like a relief. I'm still waiting for the case receipt letter from the NVC and I've sent an inquiry regarding that. Now... moving on the the next step; I'm aware that I have to complete an affidavit form of support I-134 form, and my Fianc will need to gather her medical and vaccination records for her physician to fill out the DS3025 form. I have a unique situation though....

I'm currently in nursing school and have not been employed since April of 2022, and I understand for my financial supporting documents I have to input my bank statements, pay stubs, most recent W2... A bank officer will need to will need to complete that information for me, but I'm worried because I have not received any pay stubs since April 2021, although I have saved enough to keep me afloat during nursing school. I have saved over and currently have little more than $120,000 in my bank account. Should that be enough to showcase that I have sufficient funds to support my fianc on my case? If not, what else can I do, go back to work?

Secondly, I assume all vaccinations on the DS3025 need to be completed without exceptions, is that accurate?

If there is anything else that I'm missing please feel free to inform me on the NVC process.

Thanks,

Hi, everyone. I am trying to apply for re-entry permit for my mom. She has 10 year green card and would like to travel outside of the US for about 1 year.

After researching, I found the form I-131. It says that I can file online or send mail but I can't file the online link at all.

I will have to print out everything and send to USCIS Mailbox center?

Thank you so much!

I-130 NVC interview attendees question

Howdy, my wife is the petitioner in form I-130 for her unmarried child under 16. It was recently approved and is processing in NVC currently.

My question is she is awaiting her 10 year green card and her current card is long expired. She is hesitant on making that trip for the interview without the 10 year green card in hand.

Does she have to attend the interview for her child or can I or a family member over there attend with her child?

I am sorry if this is confusing. I tried to word the situation as best I can. Thank you for your help.

Is 551 Passport Stamp Valid After Green Card Approved?

Not sure there are many people with the same issue, but I'll ask anyway . . .

My wife got a 551G stamp in her passport in November for international travel while waiting to remove conditions. She was just scheduled for her citizenship interview in January, which we assume will be a combined green card and citizenship interview. We are leaving to travel overseas 10 days after the interview. If approved, she probably won't have the 10-year card in hand before we leave. Is the 551 passport stamp still valid if the green card is approved, "being produced," or sitting in our mailbox? Thank you!
