Nice to hop back on here for a quick question.

My wife's parents moved here last year, they have no income and we are wondering... do we need to file for them at all? They have no income and I heard if you make under 12k or so, you generally don't need to file taxes. My wife is US citizen.

I'm wondering if her parents can each apply for a stimulus check under non-filer via IRS website.

Thoughts? Can anyone help us out on these two questions?

I am sure this has been addressed but I am having a difficult time finding the answer. So when I sign into my acct on USCIS I clicked to download the packet that was uploaded and there is a lot of stuff missing? Why is this? Does it just not give us everything that was actually scanned in? Nothing is in order either.

Is their a location to find out how long it will be before green card interview ?

Hello dear VJ community,

I have two family based USCIS petitions that have been approved 02/12/2020 still have not heard from NVC.

I called both USCIS twice and NVC twice to get a sense of where my petition is.

USCIS response was consistent, and they stated that the case has been forwarded to NVC on 03/18/2020.

Well, today according to NVC timeframes, they are processing cases that have been received 03/25/2020.

So after a second call (waited 1 hr 15 min on hold) with NVC they suggested to send request to nvcresearch@state.gov for each petition, so that department of state can run internal investigation.

I have already sent such inquiry about a week ago, and have not heard any responses or even a receipt that they received my inquiry.

At this point I am going to give this another month and initiate congressional inquiry with representative in my district.

I wanted to ask all of you, how long did it take ya'll to get NVC welcome letter after USCIS approved your petition?

Any suggestions or recommendations? Should I even wait a month or just go ahead and request congressional inquiry right away?

Throw your best suggestions and ideas at me, this is much appreciated.

My wife wants to renew her passport that expires in March of next year. We were supposed to fly back in May of this year to Ukraine and she figured she would knock it out then when she was back home. Of course with everything going on, she doesn't know when she will be going back home. So she said she should just renew her passport in the US.

My questions are:

1) Her passport is in her maiden name. Her GC is in her married name. On the Ukrainian embassy website, it says they want a copy of your GC that shows valid entry and residency in the US when renewing the passport. Is this going to pose any problems with her having a different name. Can her Ukrainian external passport remain in her maiden name?

2) She has the old passport and not a biometric passport. Can she retain her existing passport while they are preparing her biometric passport?

We have international travel planned in September and then again for the new years, all countries which require 6 months of validity in the passport. We are both hopeful she can get back before then, but a lot is up in there not only from COVID19 but other scheduling on our end.
