Wife sent me a message yesterday that her I-131 was approved yesterday but she never did go for biometrics as her appointment was March 20, 2 days after they closed all the offices. Does this mean that her EAD will also be approved and it will be a combo card? Good that it was approved but we can t go anywhere. thanks.

My husband and I have started working on his application for citizenship. He qualifies after 3 years of being a permanent resident due to being married to me, a US citizen. Why, then, does the application want work experience for 5 years, and even more concerning, the dates he's been out of the US for the past FIVE years instead of just 3? He has only been in the US 3.5 years so of course there is a lot of time spent outside the US in the 1.5 years before he moved here. Will that count against him?

After getting the 130 approved, we are at the stage of submitting documents and then the financial documents. Upon approval, the next step will be the interview. However, we are unable to find out how long we can wait to submit the documents or if we can request a date for the interview. We plan to continue to live in Japan until September 2021 when our baby will be one year old and I have completed my work contract. Is it possible to request a date for the interview later in the future? Or should we just delay submitting our documents at this point? We want to be careful to not miss the 6 months window of the visa being valid before entering the US. We will leave Japan the first week of September 2021, so that means we can't have the visa issued any earlier than the beginning of March 2021. Thank you for your ideas.

While I was slogging through putting together my I-485 package, I kept thinking how much I wished I was doing this all back before the "Public Charge" executive order in February. So once I finally got everything assembled I decided to take some photos of what my pile of papers would look like if I was submitting it without the "Public Charge" business and then turn them into a nice graphic. Maybe this can help people who are just getting started have an idea what their pile of documents might end up looking like -- or could help inform those unfamiliar with the huge inconvenience that the executive order puts into the immigration process.

Info: - I am a US citizen married to a non-citizen w/ no dependents.
- She came in legally on a student visa and has overstayed her OPT visa by ~1 month.
- I have already filed an I-130 petition online.
- I am wanting to mail in an I-485 package ASAP.
- After discussing the situation with the USCIS helpline (as a hypothetical...) they said that to file for AOS you need to be in the country with a currently valid status and that she would need to leave the country in order to apply for AOS.
Numerous online resources have explained to us that it is fine to file AOS for a spouse while overstaying a valid visa. Is this the case? Has something changed? Do we need to file BOTH I-130 and I-485 at the same time to do so? I'd like to know with as much certainty as possible, especially since the I-485 filing fee is so massive! Thank you for any help you can give.
