My fiance had his interview at the american embassy in tunisia on the 23rd of January and received his passport back with the visa on tuesday January 28th. My fiance will not be coming to the us for a few months so we can arrange some things. My fiance made a friend in the interview who also received his K1 visa on this last Tuesday and flew back the same day with his fiancee. He got stopped in Frankfurt and had to return due to not having a ds 5535 form filled out. This is the first time my fiance or I have heard of this. Can someone explain? My fiance didnt get a request for this form do we need to fill this out? Is it country specific of the country you fly through? My fiancee will be coming through france. Any information would be extremely helpful.

Hi All,

I am applying for Removal of condition soon. I want to check if anyone has applied without ending affidavit for poof of relationship. I don't want to ask anyone for doing this unless its really needed.

==>Question: Did any one here remove condition successfully without sending Affidavits in his application?

My plan is to send the following

  1. Bank statement showing Joint checking account.
  2. Join tax returns
  3. Joint health insurance
  4. Join car insurance
  5. Life insurance with the spouse is beneficiary
  6. Marriage registration in my home country
  7. Wedding ceremony done when we went back to my home country (after marriage in USA)
  8. Rental lease with names on it

So we went all the way through the process, up until the interview for the IR1 (married for over two years at that point). We had a sponsor who had to drop out last minute so at the interview they gave us a year to find a new sponsor. We didn't find one and from my understanding the case was thrown away at that point, but I may be mistaken, I can't find the paperwork. I'm doing a little better now and thinking of returning home to try and work and sponsor him myself (something I was incapable of a few years ago when this started). So, would we need to start the process over, from the i 130, or is it possible that we could just start by me sending in the sponsorship papers if and when I meet the requirements next year at tax time? I thought of doing it all over again is a little exhausting, tbh. Especially if it turns out I'm not well enough to work and meet requirements, thus doing it all for nothing. Thanks.

A few general questions regarding the I-130 petition package?

Hi everyone, happy holidays! Me and my husband have been together for 7 years - married for 3 years. He is from Tunisia and I'm from the usa (Detroit, MI) . I am finally getting ready to start the visa process. (IR1 Spousal visa) and I've run into a few questions and I hope maybe someone will be able to help me.

1.) When sending your I-130 Petition package do you have to send the original documents like birth certificates, marriage license, translations, etc. ? Or can you just send copies of them? I am fearful of this since I only have one original for all documents.

2.) I'm unsure of what last name to put on the I-130 for my husband. On his legal documents like his passport and his birth certificate he has various last names. So his first name is Mohamed Ali (both first names) and his last name is Abid. But on his passport and birth certificate he has his father's last name, his grandfather's last name, great-grandfather's name and so on. What do I put? Do I put the name he generally uses (Abid) or his full name like on his legal documents?

3.) Do the translations for our marriage certificate/license and his birth certificate have "expiration dates"? Like do they ever become invalidated after a certain period of time?

4.) How do I set up the I-130 package? Do I just set all papers in a binder? in an envelope?

5.) I have waited quite a while to start the visa process because I wanted to be in a better place financially so I could support my spouse myself. I currently make around 25000$ a year is that enough for me to be able to support him on the affidavit of support? I really don't want to rely on someone else to bind them financially to my husband. I've been so concerned about this.

Thanks so much for reading, I wish everyone the smoothest visa journeys
