My wife just passed her interview and was approved by the consular officer. I read there is an immigrant fee of $200 or so payable to USCIS. Is this true? When do I do that?

Document request: format/other issue, NVC/Embassy miscommunication, or other?

My wife's interview letter (Myanmar citizen, residing in Bangkok) from the Bangkok Embassy states that prior to her interview we must upload a Valid Myanmar Police Certificate and translation despite the fact that we uploaded one that was accepted by NVC in March 2024. She has not returned to Myanmar since then so the certificate should still be valid. After getting stuck for 10 weeks in the sputum test debacle, we don't want any surprises at her interview on July 26. Attached is a redacted copy of the certificate and translation we submitted. I uploaded it again and hope it will suffice, but I want to make sure I am covering all my bases.

@ThailandRand @Mike E I saw your thread below, similar but not exact issue last July so I was hoping you could chime in.

When to submit Affidavit of Support?

Hello,

I am the petitioner for a K1 visa. My I129-F has been approved. The NVC has forwarded our paperwork to the US Embassy in Thailand. And we have scheduled an interview with the embassy. They have sent us packets 3&4 which explains that we can schedule our interview and tells us what to bring to the interview. They don t mention to bring an affidavit of support. USCIS or NVC did not request this form. It is listed as step 4 in the immigrant visa process on the gov website (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-1-submit-a-petition/affidavit-of-support.html). It says to submit it on the CEAC website but when I log into CEAC, I m not presented with a portal. It just displays a message that tells me to complete a DS-160 and then logs me out. I ve completed a DS-160 and paid the fee several weeks ago which is why I was able to schedule an appointment with the embassy.

When and where am I supposed to submit an affidavit of support? And is it form I-134 or form I-864 that I would submit?

Thanks so much for your help :)

Almost exactly a year from filing to bring the wife here, our case was approved. We got the I-797 Notice of Action and soon after we got an "Introduction to Document Collection" email from NVC, telling us about next steps. But the email was pretty vague. Basically, it said check these several websites, and I did, and that there would be more documents to submit but there was no mention of what documents exactly, when they would be requested or how to submit them. I figured we just need to wait and further instructions would be coming but the wife is wanting to go get police certificates and vaccines and I'm telling her to be patient so we don't do stuff we may not need to and waste time and money. If anyone has gone thru this before I would really appreciate some info on what happens next. I know I need to send financial verification for support and that she will be contacted on what she needs to do prior to her embassy interview. I would like info on what fees I will need to pay for the rest of the process and I have 2 step daughters that will be immigrating with the wife. I think they also need to attend the embassy visit at the same time. You can see where we are in the process in the attached image. Any advice or help is greatly appreciated. Thanks and good luck to all.

Hi,

I've been trying to find an appointment for my fiancee's K1 visa but the website never seems to have any available. Are there any tips you could provide me regarding days or specific times to check? Are there any businesses that helped you find an appointment?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Robert
