COnfused about foreign earned income and assets on I-864

Hi guys,

I was reading through the instructions, but I haven't found the answer to my questions even after using google.

My husband and I currently live aborad and are now at the NVC stage filling out our I-864 (AOS). I know we that we can not include foreign earned income on the I-864, but I'm confused about how to fill out the employment question.

What do we put in the section "Part 6, Sponsor's Employment and Income"?

- Do we say employed but list my husband's current annual income as 0.- and explain in the additional information section that it's foreign earned income?

- Or do we say unemployed (which would be wrong as he's currently employed - just abroad)?

Also:

If I want to include my foreign assets on my I-864, I know that I do not have to fill out a Form I-864A (household member contract) since I'm the intending immigrant.

If I do want to list these assets on my son's I-864 though, I do have to fill out a form I-864A (household member contract) for his case, since on his AOS, he's the intending immigrant an not I. Correct?

Thank you very much for your help! As always, it's very much appreciated!

Hi everyone. I will visit my Husband by end of this month to finally see him after 7 Months! I find out that spouses and children can travel during the ban. I have a B1/B2 Visa but my daughter only have a ESTA. Can she travel with the ESTA to the US as a child from a US-citizen?

Private health insurance for a family of 4 (in TX)

Hi guys,

Since we're not sure yet if my husband will have a job lined up by the time we move to the US, we're currently looking at plans for private health insurance.

Which is the best provider for a family with two adults and two kids in Texas?

What we're looking for:

  • Temporarily, until future employer would cover health insurance. Easy way of quitting the plan would be nice
  • No one year wait period before covering maternity related medical expenses
  • Good service (online portal would be cool)
  • Cover medical expenses without having to beg and ask for every little thing
  • Not insanely expensive (below $ 1'500 per month for the entire family)

Thank you very much for your recommendation and y'all have a great day!

Hi guys,

My husband is a US Citizen and we re both currently living abroad together.

He d potentially have the possibility to start a job in the US, but the staff off this company will work remote until September.

Does anyone of you know if he s allowed to be employed by a US company based in the US and work remote for them while living - and being registered as resident - in a foreign country?

Since he s a US citizen he s obviously allowed to work in the US and he also has a work permit for Switzerland. So that shouldn t be a problem. We re just not sure if there are any other legal aspects that wouldn t make this possible.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Email from USCIS concerning Service Request

Hi guys

My husband submitted two inquiries for a case outside of normal processing times for my case and my son's (his stepson's) case.

The response he got for my son's (his stepson's) case was:

"We have received your service request and researched the status of your case. We have had to perform additional review and this has caused a delay in processing time. Your case is currently with an adjudicating officer. You should receive a decision or notice of further action within 60 days."

The response he got for my case (spouse) a day later was:

"We have received your service request and researched the status of your case. We have had to perform additional review and this has caused a delay in processing time. Your case is currently in line for processing and adjudication. Cases are processed in the order in which they were received."

Why doesn't it state a number of days for my case? Has this ever happened to one of you and were the cases ultimately adjudicated at the same time (since one is the spous' and one the dependent's)? Is this simply because the service requests have been answered by different people sn looked at by the same person, or do we have to expect one case being adjudicated earlier than the other?

Thank you very much for your feedback.
