Hello. I have been in Sweden for 3.5 years on long-term assignment with my company. My company will move me back to the US at the end of June. My wife is Chinese, we married in Sweden, and we have a 7-month-old son. My son already has his CRBA and US passport. We have been approved for DCF with exceptional circumstances for job relocation. The I-130s have also been accepted. In Sweden I am still employed by my home company in the US. I still get paid in the US with USD deposited in my US bank, and I will keep my same position when I return to the US. My only concern is domicile since I don t have a house or apartment in the US, and I plan on returning to the US concurrently with my wife and son. Our household goods will be shipped to the US by sea (arranged by my employer), which will take several weeks. What I would like to do is stay in an extended stay hotel on arrival, look for a house to rent or buy during that time, and move in after our household goods arrive. However, I m afraid that this plan would be interpreted as an intent to establish domicile several weeks after arrival instead of no later than the date of the intending immigrant s admission . However, some people do live in these hotels for years. In fact, I lived in one for a couple of months before moving to Sweden, and I have its address on my driver s license. Maybe I did maintain this domicile while in Sweden since they are still in business? Another option would be to remotely sign a short-term or month-to-month lease on an apartment. This seems like the safest option; however, it is not as flexible, and I would probably end up paying for months where I was not staying there. And finally, it seems that the most common situation on this site is to move in with parents. However, my parents live in a different state an 11-hour drive from my employer. We could state that we will move in with them until we found a residence (I can work remote for a time), but would that short-term arrangement really be considered a domicile?

Hello, I am currently doing an Adjustment of Status from a J1 visa to a marriage based green card. We submitted the AOS application in September 2022 and I am currently not working as I am still waiting for my EAD since my J1 visa expired in October 2022. I am getting so restless not working or doing anything with my time and was looking into doing some unpaid internships. Would this be allowed to do before I have my EAD? I have also read a few places that if I do work, I will probably be forgiven since I am married to a US citizen, but not sure if it is worth to risk it? Anyone has experience with this?? Looks like the EAD processing time is around 10 months right now so I have another 5 months to go without working... Not sure how the USCIS expects people to not work for almost a year Thankful for any advice!

I m finally scheduled for my combo interview in 4 weeks. Had to reschedule to appointment I had in December and recently got a new appointment. I only received an email in December saying that it will be a combined interview but it didn t mention what I should take with me. This is the only information that I got in the N-400 letter regarding my appointment: This letter. Your Alien Registration Card ("green card"). Your passport and/or any other documents you used in connection with any entries into the United States. If applying for NATURALIZATION AS THE SPOUSE of a United States Citizen; Your marriage certificate. My interview will be in Dallas, TX. If anyone knows how long after approval I will do the oath ceremony that will be appreciated since I m trying to plan for an upcoming trip.

Hi all! Quick question, I will send in my application to remove conditions when my 90-day window opens in late March, will I receive anything from USCIS before I file i.e. a letter/notice? I had to change my address last year as we moved and for some reason USCIS does not like confirming my address when I ask, so just curious if I should be expecting something (or not, if my address never changed properly.) Thanks!

Hello All, my family started our journey 6 years ago and we are almost crossing the finish line (we might already have depending on the answers I might receive :)). We went through all the steps and both my wife and step child are now US citizens. We decided to also go through the stepparent adoption here in Florida and that was completed as well and now I am the boys legal parent. After the completion of the adoption I read that a US birth certificate could be issued for the child, but then read that this was for non US citizen children in the state of Florida (which is not our situation). I contacted the vital statistic bureau of Florida and they recommended me to contact the Department of State in Washington DC. Now before I go down this path I would really appreciate any help in this matter. Specifically if someone else have done this and if this applies to our case. If it is possible, then what forms do I need to submit and where to send them. I am ok if the answer is that we have to keep his foreign birth certificate, but it would be much easier if we could get him a US one. The child is now 9 years, has Thai birth certificate, and is US citizen. Thank you in advance. Jonny
