https://thehill.com/latino/480572-immigration-judges-association-calls-for-independence-from-doj?amp The head of the immigration judges union asked a House panel Wednesday for the "urgent creation" of independent immigration courts, separate from the Department of Justice structure that oversees the current system. National Association of Immigration Judges (NAIJ) President Ashley Tabbador told members of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration and Citizenship that "America needs an immigration court that is free from improper influence on the decisions of immigration judges." Immigration courts are a part of the Department of Justice's Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), and their decisions can be directly overruled by the attorney general. The union and the executive branch have butted heads in the past, but friction has increased during the Trump administration, to the point where EOIR in August petitioned the Federal Labor Relations Authority to decertify NAIJ as a union.

I still haven't decided if I will file for citizenship when I become eligible in April, but I still want to prepare for it in case I decide to. My question is, what do you guys prefer filing wise - online or mail? The visajourney guide is very geared towards filing by mail, so I don't really know how it works to file online, haven't seen much info about it anywhere. Can I access the online form already now to see what I need to prepare for? Or can I only do that once it's time to submit it? Also, my scanner is a complete pain in the butt to use, the copy part of the machine is so much easier to deal with. So, how many documents do I actually need to scan if doing it online? I mean, the divorce decree itself is like 70 pages.. tax return transcripts, passport style photos and then all the hundreds of evidence for the past 3 years? That sound like a ton of scanning..? Or is it enough to just scan and send the divorce decree, greencard, tax returns, passport photos and call it a day? I honestly have no idea how much they'll be asking for, and I felt the guide doesn't really help with the online filing part. So, online or mail? If we're talking the same amount of evidence as for ROC, then definitely mail, right? If online, do you pay with credit card right there and then after submitting the application?

Barry Chin/Globe Staff/file 2016 A Massachusetts police chiefs organization is putting its support behind a bill that would allow undocumented immigrants to obtain state driver s licenses. The Mass. Major City Chiefs of Police Association, which includes 38 members, voted by a vast majority this week to support the Work and Family Mobility Act, the State House News Service reports. This bill would promote trust between law enforcement and all the communities we serve and protect, Chelsea Police Chief Brian Kyes, president of the association, said in a statement to the outlet. In order for our state s police officers to best do their jobs and remain safe while doing so, they need to be able to identify who s behind the wheel. All Massachusetts families need peace of mind knowing that the drivers on our highways and city streets have passed the same driving test and know the rules of our roads.

Hello! So my husband and I haven t been approved for the I130 yet, but we wanted to get a head start on paperwork for the NVC stage. I am currently a full-time student and am only working part time. I do not make enough to meet the minimum amount needed to sponsor my husband for form I864. However, he has assets that equal approximately 6x the deficit. His assets are liquid (money in his savings account). I also have roughly $10k in my own account. Will this combination of my income and our assets be sufficient? I have read on past posts that people still recommend getting a joint sponsor despite having enough assets, so any thoughts would be appreciated!
