Hello, my husband had an interview in October 9, 2020. They CO told him everything is fine but he has to be in AP because he's from a banned country. so she kept his passport and gave him 212f paper. I sent them many emails asking them if they need anything from us, they said no. Yesterday, I told them that it's been 2 months and still nothing. They respond back telling me that they told my husband a proof from the embassy where he renewed his passport. They never asked. I emailed them back with what they want which is a receipt, when do you think they will issue the visa if that's the only thing they want?

Hello Me and my wife received out re-entry permits recently, which is great. However during the processing time she changed her surname to mine. We have left the US and the name change has taken place in Sweden, which is where we are citizens. Has anyone changed their name and updated the re-entry permit and can tell us what we need to do??

Hi everyone, I just wanted to make a post where we could talk about the K1 visa process within the Schengen area and the travel ban that is currently affecting us. So any information, updates, personal progress or frustrations in your own visa cases are welcome here as long as you keep a good tone. This is meant to be a place where we can "gather" and support each other, help out if possible or just be among other people in a similar situation. One day this waiting will be over, but for right now lets share the process together and celebrate together later on once we finally get our visas and can be reunited with the person we love without having to say goodbye again. If you want to be a part of this thread feel free to introduce yourself and let us know where in the process you and your fianc /e are currently at. I'm a Swedish K1 that met a wonderful man on a Christian dating app early last year. We got engaged in August and sent in the I-129F in late September longing to start sharing the rest of our lives together. Everything went smoothly up until the travel ban on Schengen came along... We literally heard about the travel ban the same morning as I had my visa interview on March 12th. We had preliminary plans to get married in April. We were so close and it felt like we literally stumbled on the finish line. It was heart breaking. But at least the interview went well. The consular officer said congratulations, but that they had to wait for my medical results to come in and that she didn't know what the guidelines would be yet with the travel ban. A week later we got an email from the embassy saying that the medical results had come in, but that I was currently ineligible for a visa due to the Presidential Proclamation (travel ban) and that the application will be reviewed again once the proclamation is lifted. So that's where we're at. Still waiting 260 days after the visa interview. We haven't seen each other in 15 months and there's not even enough words to describe how much we miss each other and wish that this was over. When I left Chicago in August last year my fianc didn't have anymore vacation days for that year, and then the NOA2 came early January so we decided to save his vacation for our wedding and honeymoon. In the beginning of the fall we heard about Americans having made it to Sweden successfully as a partner to a Swedish citizen and we wanted him to come and visit me, but he wasn't allowed to change any vacation days. So now our hope is that he will be able to come for a week in January when he gets new vacation days... So what about you? What's your story? How are you holding up?

I am a CR-1 conditional resident and we just started the process of removing conditions on my residency. Part of the evidence package recommendations was to include tax returns that we filed jointly. We filed taxes jointly 2020 for my first year of residency (calendar year 2019), but due to the dual status alien requirements (https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/dual-status-aliens) we had to file on paper. Our check for taxes due was pretty promptly cashed by the IRS back in March, but since then we haven't heard a single thing. There is no transcript available via the online account either. When choosing 2020 tax year for the tax transcript, an automatic non-filing letter is automatically generated. Prior to sending the I-751 we tried calling the IRS, but the whole hour and a half call left us more frustrated if anything. The phone reps kept giving us an attitude and transferring us to someone else (didn't know a transfer PIN was a thing since no-one on phone would tell us?). Nobody really knew anything and gave us the runaround. "I don't know, let me transfer you" => 10-15 more minutes listening to the waiting music. I know filing taxes are few people's favorite things to do during the year, but coming from an easy tax filing process (Scandinavia) to a mess that is IRS has been shocking to say the least. Just don't want to get an RFE from USCIS because of lacking tax information if IRS can't get their act together--year of Covid or not. I would assume it will be difficult to file taxes next year if we do not have an approved tax return for the year prior. I read something about a free IRS tax advocate. Has anybody used their services? Or would we have to go to a congressman to escalate the issue? Would appreciate any input from others who are better with dealing with the taxman.
