Hi guys, I need some advice: I have been working while I do my masters and this is the first time I have filed taxes in the US. I sent them by mail in April (online is only for residents apparently) but due to COVID, IRS says that they are not processing tax returns. So basically I did not get a refund yet and IRS still has not my information, I don't exist for them. For this reason I cannot get IRS transcripts that form I-944 requires. What should I do? 1) Indicate in the form I-944 that this year I did not fill taxes? I did but they did not process them yet so technically still not filled. 2) Send a copy of my 1040NR, together with W-2, paystubs, contracts, etc? To show that I am working and I filled taxes this year. 3) Should I write a letter explaining that I was unable to get the transcripts due to covid? Or better not to mention anything and see if what I provide is enough? Honestly I don't want to lose more time waiting for IRS to start again processing paper returns, this pandemic is gonna last. Thoughts? It is the only thing I am missing from that form.

Hi, We have a question for the I-130. I am currently in the US with a F1 visa, and we are filling concurrently I-130 with I-485, so in the form I-130, page 8, there is a item that says: "The beneficiary is in the United States and will apply for adjustment of status to that of a lawful permanent resident at the USCIS office in..." So, I am living in Arlington, Virginia, which is just 10 minutes away from Washington, DC. What office I should write there? I'm not pretty sure about this point. I wrote Washington, DC. Should I leave it like that?

Hi guys, This is a question that has been frequently asked recently in VJ but still not clear, and I want to know what did you guys do adjusting from a student visa. The question is about the liabilities in form I-944, page 6, part 3. It says: provide a list of your liabilities... so the question is: should I state my wife's debts (mortgage mainly) as well?. I don't have any debts so I feel like the form is not asking for me and my household member... in this case it just say "your". What did you guys do? I think that because the I-944 is to show that we're going to be Self-Sufficiency" in the future , I should be talking about my debts only... that's what I understand, but it's not clear at all. Thoughts?

Good morning everyone. So I got admitted into a masters in the US and I was supposed to begin in person classes in August, however embassies are still closed so my school is looking for alternative solutions as I will not be able to join them for fall 2020 (meaning I will have to wait and join them in person for spring 2021 in January, there is no in between). The problem is that I got selected for the DV 2021; for some time I did consider getting the DV but in the light of recent political events and given it is a very complicated situation right now, I have been thinking about it and I am reconsidering and going for the safest option (and the option I worked really hard for, I do not want to waste that). However, I was told that because I got selected in the DV lottery and my case number is really low, I will have a hard time overcoming the assumption that I will have immigrant intent and adjust my status as soon as I am there... Is there anything I can do about this? Is all hope now lost to get an F1 or is there something I can do to overcome that assumption? PS: I will not be looking to adjust status, but honestly I worked long and hard to get admitted into this masters, I have been excited about it for quite some time and I even got an Assistantship to cover the costs... It is not an opportunity I would like to pass on. Thank you all for your help
