Hello, Married to a US spouse, but now I am temporarily living outside my permanent address because I am doing 3 years of medical school in another state to be able to practice in the US. I live in another state, and by myself, my spouse stays in our apartment, located at the address we have always lived at since I came to the US (and shown in my DL). We visit a lot each other, either she comes or I go, but technically talking we aren't living together. it is a sacrifice we are doing for me to grow here, but we have a solid marriage, financially and in all areas, so that would be easy to prove. I do not have a DL from the state I am studying at, only a lease of the apartment I rent. The question is: when I apply for naturalization, would this be a problem? The fact that we are not in the same house for a while? Even though we keep the same permanent address? Should I mention this in the form or to the officer? If I apply for naturalization, I am planning to apply in the state we have our apartment, not here where I temporarily live. My home is there. What do you think? Should I be concerned or delay my naturalization? I honestly would like to do it as soon as I can apply (I cannot do it yet, but I will be able to apply during my program and be a citizen at the time of my graduation). Thank you

Hi everyone! After over a month of waiting we have finally heard from the NVC. The email said there had been an update on our case and to log in to the webpage to check. All documents have been accepted but we had 2 messages. 1- Please submit petitioner s Evidence of Income. For more information, visit https://nvc.state.gov/fin 2- This case does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 from a joint sponsor may be submitted. For more information visit https://nvc.state.gov/aos. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p. My husband has now submitted pay-statements proving his income exceeds the 125% of HHS poverty guidelines. Having said all this, I have few questions I hope you guys can help us with: - Is the case moving forward to the interview scheduling step? - Does the case need to be reviewed again? If so, do they take long to do so? Or will the documents be reviewed at the interview? - Are we supposed to get an email stating the case state? - Should we be worried? Thank you so much for your help!! Kind Regards, Sarah

Dear All, My wife (USC) and I (beneficiary) are currently trying to figure out the best way to deal with our jobs, while not jeopardizing the immigration process. We checked a ton of posts, but nothing really related to our situation. Our background: Applied for IR-1 visa in Feb 2021. Received the visa in Oct 2022. During the process we both are residing in Spain (we used a joint sponsor). Now our situation is that I accepted a job offer at the University in IN, which starts on Jan 1st 2023. Since it also includes teaching, I need to be there on time. My wife currently works in Spain and is finishing her projects with her employer, but that employer asked her to stay for another 1-1.5 months to complete the projects (we both can legally live and work in Spain till Mar 31st 2023). She really likes her current job and she has some problems finding jobs in the US in the area where we intend to move eventually. Please, let me know if this plan is good to proceed with: We got our airplane tickets for early December, we arrive in CA (her home state). A week later we move to IN to settle in our new home. She and I think that she needs to properly re-establish her domicile in the United States (as per the I-864 requirements). For that purpose she co-signs our new lease, gets an IN state ID or DL, signs up for utility bills together with me, signs up for voting in IN etc. Then in the early Jan she goes back to Spain for 1-1.5 months to finish her job and after that she moves back to the US while (hopefully) having a job offer near me. Does this plan sound fine or should we look into a more appropriate way to arrive to the US? She and I are married for over 4 years now, so I think that the ROC process doesn t apply to us. Thank you for your answers. Best regards. -Peter

Hi Everyone, We have submitted all docs for the NVC to review (yesterday) and was hoping the interview scheduling would be the quickest part of the process, after reading some post I have doubts I see that in some cases it takes months to get the interview appointment. We started the process back in Sept 2021. Therefore, this is the priority date of the application. Does anyone know if the priority date has an effect on the process? Thank you for your help!
