Case Was Received VS Case is Being Actively Reviewed

Hello,

I'm a USC and I recently filed a standalone I-130 for my wife back in last December.

I mailed my I-130 to a lockbox and I received NOA1 in Dec 15th with a IOE receipt number.

When I check the case using the receipt number, it shows "Case Was Received and A Receipt Notice Was Sent". However, I know couple other cases who filed around the same time as me showing "Case is Being Actively Reviewed".

I also saw someone saying that their case changed to actively reviewed within like a day after their submission and now I'm extra concerned.

How long does it usually take to be shown as "Case is being actively reviewed"? Is my case being delayed until it changes to "Case is being actively reviewed"?

Thank you so much!

Petitioner Living Abroad/I-134

I am a US citizen petitioning for my fiance to move to the US with me on the K1 visa. I currently live and work in my fiance's home country. I will be moving back to the US in a year, but I had a question regarding the I-134 document. I will be using a co sponsor because my international income isn't eligible to support my fiance at this time for the K1 visa. Do I need to complete a I-134 as well as my co sponsor? Will there need to be 2 of these documents? It seems I have confused myself reading different things online and would like the assistance of someone who knows better than myself.

Thank you in advance!

Hi all,

My wife filed her case back in May of 2019 (SRC) and her case was transferred to our local USCIS office which is in Charleston, SC. She already had her passport stamp renewed twice and about to renew again in March. They kept telling her she should get interview soon but we are still waiting. At this point we don t even know what to do. It s been almost 4 years and it s pretty stressful. We have contacted our Congresswoman and the office said there s not much they can do.

Any help or advice will be appreciated!

thank you all!

Can I choose which local office to file AOS and AP?

Hello.

I am a K1 visa filer and I was wondering when I will be able to travel outside United States after I file AOS and AP together.

They say it varies by local field office. Some offices slow, others fast.

Does the USCIS main office assign you the field office when you file or can I choose where to file?

My USC fiance lives in Arlington, Virginia and USCIS website says the office for my zip code is Washington office in Fairfax, VA.

Is this going to be my office or can I still choose? I am willing to travel to Nolfolk, VA or Baltimore for shorter processing time.

Name Change / Passport after Naturalization

So my wife was recently naturalized under her current name. However we're in the process of changing her name with our state court since we didn't do it during the ceremony.

We were waiting for the name change to apply before going for the passport.

Since the Certificate of Naturalization is required when applying for the passport, does this mean we also have to get the name change reflected on that (via N-565)? I see there's a hefty $555 fee as well... Or can we still submit the original cert along with the name change documents as supporting evidence?

Wondering if the easier option is we just get her passport now with her current name and then request a new passport later with the new name so we don't have to deal with changing the Certificate of Naturalization (along with the fee).

Once we have her passport, I assume that becomes her main form of US citizenship evidence anyways rather than the certificate.

Option 1: Complete name change -> get new Certificate -> apply for passport

Option 2: Apply for passport -> Complete name change -> apply for new passport
