Hello, A quick overview of my timeline before I ask a question: Baltimore, MD 1/13/2020 Application Received 1/17/2020 Biometrics Scheduled 1/27/2020 Biometrics Attended/Reviewed 9/9/2020 Interview Scheduled 10/14/2020 Scheduled Interview Date However, I'm a semiconductor engineer and I have a business trip to Korea from 9/27/2020 to 1/4/2021. This trip is very important and accommodations like housing are already arranged. I am planning to reschedule my interview and I head that I need to follow the rescheduling instructions on the interview notice that I got and explain my situation by mail. My question is, will USCIS reschedule my interview after I return from Korea? Or is it completely random and they may reschedule it before I come back to the States? I don't mind the extra wait due to rescheduling, but I cannot return to the States and go back to Korea due to the Korea's COVID-19 prevention and quarantine law. Thank you in advance and feel free to give me any extra advices. Stay safe and good luck to everyone!

Hello everyone, We had our cr1 processed at the USCIS Seoul field office before it was closed down, back in 2018. My question is, did my wife get interviewed by a USCIS officer or a consulate worker? If she did get interviewed by a USCIS officer, is it the same as getting interviewed in the States at a USCIS field office? I just hope we can get approved without the i-751 interview because it looks like it'll be a long long wait otherwise... Thanks for your time!

I-864 Joint Sponsor Inquiry |

Hello all, I just received an RFIE for my recent I-485 submission, and one of the things they are requesting is that I submit more evidence to prove that I am a qualified sponsor for my wife. Before I continue any further, my income is well above the federal poverty line. Along with my I-864, I had submitted: employment verification letter, four months of pay stubs, & 2019 tax return transcript. The only issue is that I started my job in February of 2020, so at the time of submitting my documents, I was only employed for four months. In addition, the income I earned in 2019 was all foreign-earned income (it was still above the poverty line). I am wondering if that was the issue. So, my questions now are: 1. Should I use a joint sponsor just in case when I resubmit my I-864 documents? 2. Does my joint sponsor have to submit proof of income every year? Hypothetically in the future (say 5-6 years later), if my joint sponsor s income falls below the federal poverty line, would that be an issue (even though my income is above the federal poverty line)? I only ask because my joint sponsor is looking to retire in a few years. I am well-aware that joint sponsors are legally responsible for any public benefits costs in case I or my wife can t cover. We just want to make sure my joint sponsor doesn t need to keep showing proof of income every year. 3. It says the joint sponsor has to submit a change of address form (I-865) every time he/she moves. Is that necessary? I just wanted to cover all my grounds before resubmitting my documents. I thank you all in advance for any advice you provide me.

My fianc e already has a B2 visa and visited me last year for holidays. She left in March to get her son and finish the K1 interview process before Covid took over the world completely. Unfortunately, the K1 process was halted and she was stuck with her son for 4 months in Russia. Now we have reunited in Mexico, but there seems to be no clear sign for when K1 processes will begin again in S. Korea. We thought maybe we could just apply for a B2 visa for her son since we are here and maybe we can wait out Covid in the US. My congressman has said he might write a letter for us, but that we need something showing we applied and that the Embassy replied that they aren't processing any regular visas so he then can try to write something. I think at best he can only get us an interview in the Embassy/Consulate. I just wondered if a B2 for the child is realistic or if there are any negative possibilities that could occur, or if we should just try to get a letter from our congressman to start the K1 and not worry about the B2. It's a lot more complicated to get everyone to Korea and quarantine and do medical and hope interviews don't get cancelled, etc so we just wanted to try an easier, less expensive route first. Her son is still in elementary school, but everything is online for now.
