Hello everyone! Newbie to the website and the whole process here. My fiancee is an American Citizen and we both plan to live and stay in the US eventually. We were thinking about the K1 or the CR-1 Visa and had a few questions regarding the K1 visa process. 1. We recently had a consultation with an immigration lawyer and she has stated that depending on the outcome of the upcoming election, that the K1 visa process may no longer be a viable option. We did a brief check on resources but could not find any source pertaining directly to this impact. I was wondering if there is any truth to this statement? 2. Assuming time is the main factor and the current covid situation, would it be a logical decision for us to go through the K1 visa process rather than the CR-1 Visa process? 3. I understand that for the CR-1 Visa after a certain step, my fiancee would need to establish residency and financial stability back int he US. Similarly, for the K1 Visa, would my fiancee have to be based in the US the whole time during the this process? Also, if anyone had any personal experiences with the K1 Visa process, I would love to hear how the whole process went and how it turned out. Thank you!

Hello. I'm having trouble to get an i-551 stamp for work authorization, and I need some advice or opinion to resolve this issue. To briefly explain my situation... My green card is expired while in the process of citizenship. I applied the US citizenship this January, and my green card was expired this September. I'm currently unemployed and looking for a job. I had an interview and ended up coming down to final candidate, but I got rejected because of my green card issue. The HR said that they could not offer me a job because my green card was expired. I called to uscis office several times and explained my situation, but what they said is if it is not urgent situation, they can not give me i-551 stamp. They asked me if I got a job offer because they need it for the process. This makes me frustrating because the HR checked my status BEFORE they offer me a job. After several calls with uscis, they put me on the waiting queue and told me that the uscis officer will call me back within 5 days, but I'm still waiting for the callback. I informed uscis that I have not received the callback, and they put me on the waiting queue again. What I can do for now is just waiting for the callback from the officer and finger cross to get approved getting i-551 stamp. With the expired green card, I can not work anywhere and I can not even get a chance to be hired. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thank you for reading! Could you

Hi all-- I have already filed the K1 a couple months ago. However, I have received a job offer to work in Japan where he is and would really like to go if I have the chance. As the contract is at least one year, I thought about withdrawing my K1 petition and just getting married in Japan while working there. However, when searching about the requirements, I was confused. I am still living in my parents house and this is indeed my intended address for the foreseeable future. Would having a job abroad eliminate my chances for the visa? Also, for a CR1 are you allowed to use a joint sponsor? If anyone has advice I would so appreciate it.

Hey all, My wife and I got married last year August and filed for I130/I485 concurrently along with EAD and advanced parole. Thankfully, we got the combo card before COVID got hit but we just applied for the renewal since the card was expiring next Feb/March. On March 10th, we were scheduled to have an interview during April but was cancelled due to COVID and it's been unchanged since then. I'm looking at the posts in this forum and it looks like people are getting their interviews here and there. Some people even got approved for their AoS and the Green Card. We live in Los Angeles,CA and Los Angeles field office's estimated time range is 10 to 33.5 months. It's definitely been more than 10 months (~14 months as of now) Is it normal to have this long wait period to get rescheduled for the cancelled interview? I was told by our lawyer that it usually takes less than a year since F2A was current during the time of the filing. Anybody still waiting for their cancelled interview due to COVID?

Hi there, I have had my GC now for over 4 years - but have been divorced from my USC spouse, so I need to wait to file for citizenship until the 5th year. My soon to be spouse is undocumented. After reviewing the N400 application, it requires information about the current spouse, their status, etc. My question is - should we wait to get married until after I file for citizenship? Will it affect my case if spouse is undocumented? Thanks in advanced!
