So I filed in in 02/2021

I was given a 18 months extension letter.

I heard uscis is sending out 24 months letter even to those who received 18 months earlier.

Till date i have not received the 24 months letter. Though my 18 months expires in October. Case currently show scheduled for interview but I saw applicant who waited for 1+ years before interview actually scheduled. Anyone else received 24 months after 18 months letter??

K-1 Visa Interview Question!

Hello,

My fianc and I filed our I-129F form late October and received our NOA1 shortly after. We are still waiting to receive our NOA2. I know this is far ahead but since I recently spoke to an immigration lawyer, I have a few questions about the interview process.

1. My attorney told me that my fianc and I will BOTH be participating in the interview and that it will be over the phone. We were under the impression that my fianc (the beneficiary) would be completing the interview at the US Consulate in South Korea by himself, in person. I'm not sure if protocol has changed because of Covid or what not.

2. Can my boyfriend and I provide evidence at the future interview (hoping our petition will be approved firstly), including pictures of us together, letters from our parents supporting our marriage, engagement ring photos, etc.) The reason I ask is because we have only met once within the span of 3 years because his mother was terminally ill and Covid has been an issue for traveling. His country's covid protocol is very strict. We met for the first time late September 2021 and stayed together for about a month which fits into the requirement of meeting within the past 2 years but we're worried about rejection because we've only met once. But we are planning on seeing each other again in February!

Sorry for the long message and thanks for your help :)

Overstaying 90 days on K1 and seeking waiver of inadmissibility

I wanted to pass on a question from a friend of mine and hear back some feedback from VJ folks:

Quote

I'm currently an illegal alien subject to 10 year bar. I came to US 20 years ago from Finland via K1 but overstayed the visa. Never got married during the 90 days.

I currently live with a partner(US Citizen) whom I love and lived with for past 15 years. We are currently not married. She has cancer(diagnosed 6 months ago). Because I'm her sole caretaker, she depends on me for things like putting clothes on and making it to appointments.
At this point she wants to explore options to help me become legal through I-601. I know this is a complicated case, advice on becoming legal alien again is really appreciated.
Thank you.

Restarting the visa process after one year

My wife is a Korean citizen, we currently live in Korea and are hoping to move the US next year.

We originally applied for my wife's green card in November 2019. The I-130 was approved in May of 2020. Due the pandemic, we were unable to move to the US. The Korean embassy's website stated that the i-130 expired after two years, and various threads on this forum said that the i-130 didn't expire. In May of this year, I received a letter from the National Visa Center that said my case would be terminated in one year (May 2022) if I didn't pursue the visa application.

Now, I'd like to re-open my case. However, when I tried to do so, I received a message that said fee payments and online forms can no longer be accepted, and that I should contact the NVC to pursue my immigrant visa application. I've sent an online inquiry with the National Visa Center, and now I'm waiting for their reply. Does anyone know what will happen with my case? Will I have to start the whole process again from the beginning?

Merging ITIN to SSN

Looking for some folks who have merged tax returns. Has anyone applied for ITIN and later been assigned a SSN?

For folks who have been filing taxes under ITIN for number of years then started to file taxes under the new SSN, how did you manage to merge the accounts? Any feedback from going through process?
A Family member of ours filed under ITIN for few years and then started to file returns under new SSN once he was eligible.
The purpose of this is that, we want to make sure that IRS can combine the two in hopes that all the ITIN witholding can be properly applied to SSN.
Thank you.
