US Immigration from South Africa

Hi everyone,

My partner and I just got married and I am filing the documents this week. I just wanted to know if I should submit all of them at the same time or wait for the i-130 and i-485 to be approved first? Thank you.

I m getting ready to file the I-130 to bring my stepson to the US to live with my husband and I. Am I missing something in the estimated processing times on the USCIS site? I am the USC and thought my filing the I-130 would result in a shorter processing time, but it appears on the website that permanent residents filing for minor children is a shorter wait. Is there any other benefit to my being the filer that I am not aware of? My mom is going to have to co-sponsor with us, simply because we haven t been here long enough to have the tax filing history for the paperwork. I was previously living abroad with my husband for 5 years and we have only been in the states since February of this year. We are both gainfully employed but as I said, don t yet have 2 years of tax returns.

I am a US citizen who was living abroad with my husband (South African citizen) so we filed all of our paperwork for him abroad previously. We are now living together in the US and are preparing to file an I-130 to bring my stepson to live with us here. We are also currently in the process of having a house built. So we will be moving twice in a short period of time. Our current house has been sold (we will be closing Dec. 1) and we will temporarily be living at a relative s home while our house is being built. I wanted to go ahead and file the I-130 because I have read the processing times have been longer than normal and we would like to have him here before school starts in 2022 so he s not starting after the school year has begun. That being said, would our having 3 addresses in such a short time be an issue or set off any red flags with USCIS?

Question #1:

Has anyone in this office recieved their biometrics letter? We've been waiting for ours since April 7th with absolutely no notices other than NOA1. We already filed a service request after the 90days since opening, it has been 30+days since our service request filing and no response. Is this the slowest office or something? Even Seattle seems quicker from the posts I've read. Is there somewhere I can view processing times for my specific ASC?

Question #2:

My husband and I have the opportunity to change our address to move in with my parents in their new home. It will be in another county (Palm Beach) so new ASC. Could this help us get our biometrics quicker or will we make things worse? Should we keep living in this house waiting for the Oakland Park office?
