International Travel / Expired Green Card

Hi all - my husband's conditional Green Card expires 10/8 (yes, we did file to drop the conditions and received a notice that his green card would be extended for 18mos while this was processing). His father died yesterday and he needs to leave the country (likely beyond 10/8). He can travel, but will he have problems getting back into the country (even with the paperwork showing the extension)? Does he need to apply for a re-entry permit? Should we wait for the physical plastic green card? Thanks for any help here!

Hello Everyone!

Life is only getting busier, so I am getting ahead of putting my Removal of Conditions Packet together. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if there is a Megathread for this kind of think, please direct me there so I can get more objective eyes on this.

So far we have/will have:

  1. IRS TAX TRANSCRIPTS 2019, 2020, 2021
  2. Baby Girl's Birth Certificate
  3. Step-parent Adoption Decree
  4. Amended Birth Certificate for my daughter that husband is adopted, (changed to same surname)
  5. USC Spouse's Passport Bio. page & Visa Stamp page (South Africa)
  6. Boarding Passes for trip to South Africa to meet/visit my family
  7. Family Photos (4 - 6 Pages): Marriage, Holidays, Dates, Local Travel
  8. Residential Lease for our 1st Apartment (Jan 2019 - July, 2020)
  9. Utility Company Residency/Credit Letter, stating dates of service & account paid in full
  10. Utility Bills: Electric (Jan 2019 - July 2020) - Landlord paid Water & we shared internet with other apt. neighbour
  11. Letter from Mother-In-Law in lieu of Lease and Utilities (July 2020 - Sept 2022)
  12. Driver's Licenses, showing the same/in-laws address
  13. Car Insurance Declaration, shows both of us as "Married" & "Named Insured" (2020-2022)
  14. Car Insurance Renewal Letter (2020-2022)
  15. Car Insurance Bills (last 3 months each year), as proof of payment
  16. Private Health Insurance Cards (front & back) - BCBS
  17. Employer-sponsored Vision & Dental Insurance: shows Spouse & children as Dependents
  18. Claims/End of Year Statements from All Insurance Companies (2020 - 2022), showing use
  19. Physical Credit Cards for Joint AmEx Account
  20. AmEx Credit Account Statements (2021 - 2022), every 4 months incl. most recent statement
  21. Voided Check from Joint Checking Account - ending 5855
  22. Joint Checking Account Statements - ending in 5855, every 3 months incl. most recent

22. Anniversary AirBnb Itinerary/Receipt/Messages Back & Forth between spouse & hosts (3 pages max)

Total Joint Credit Card statements: 5 (spanning a full year)

Total Joint Checking Account Statements: 18 - 20 (spanning almost 4 years)

Rough Estimate: 200 pages total

Since we do we have small children, I'm trying to get ahead of the paperwork to reduce my future stress. I want to add those final bank/cc. statements, drive up the road to the FedEx and have a great day afterwards! The total number of pages is roughly 200, but considering this is almost 4 full years (would've been only 3 if pandemic didn't delay/reschedule interview). That seems pretty reasonable to me, but I don't want to include repetitive or unnecessary docs. If any of these could be consolidated please let me know because that would be awesome!

Thank you for your help & input anyone who reads this.

No Fixed Address

I entered No Fixed Address for two periods (about 6 months each) in my 5 year address history. I was living out of my vehicle in the Seattle area.

I searched all over but found no one at least who wrote about it online in the same boat. I decided to tell the truth. I was not a public charge and continued to work while parked at Alki Beach every night.

I attached a letter to my online application saying due to owner returning from overseas I was forced to leave affordable accommodations and was unable to afford an apartment in Seattle after having been struck out of my marital home (US spouse divorced me and I was successful with ROC on a divorce waiver without even having to interview) just 18 months before, saying I needed to save. Now have my own land, where I currently reside.

Anyone see me having a problem with this come decision time?

I-601 (CIMT) Processing Times?

Hi all. Beneficiary here. Married in 2014 to US citizen, filed I-130 petition in that same year.

20 August 2015 - I was refused at my interview (actually, exactly 6 years ago) due to a CIMT (shoplifting - one lipstick in 1990 when I was 18 - I'm almost 50 now - theft committed by the person I happened to be with, without my knowledge - was arrested as an "accessory" but charged and convicted in chambers without my knowledge of "theft".) I didn't even know that I had a criminal record until I filed my I-130 petition and saw it on my police clearance. I declared everything in my petition, and was still denied at the interview. Subsequent request for reconsideration under the petty offense exemption was ignored, and I was told to file a waiver.

At that point we just abandoned the process because we had already been apart for too long, and didn't have the extra $5,000 that we would need to file the waiver.

Current situation: My husband's mom passed away in May 2021, and he had to return to US to take care of things. We had been living together in Vietnam (Hanoi) for the prior two years. He is unable to return due to COVID-related visa restrictions for entry into Vietnam. We re-hired Lizz Cannon, and she is just about ready to go ahead and file the waiver.

Is there anyone else in a similar position now - that is, just about to, or already filed an I-601? Is there anywhere I can go to see current processing times, and updates from others who are going through this right now? Would love to connect with others in a similar boat.
