221g Disappointment, 1+ Year on

Things I've done since 221g:

  1. Emailed the US Embassy of Jerusalem roughly every month since the interview. Every time they reply with "we're sorry, we can't tell you how long it'll take, check the CEAC website for updates" then add a random number of months I should wait. 2, 9, etc...
  2. Checked the CEAC website every day. It changed once after we sent in what was asked of us to bring in August 2023.
  3. Contacted a congressional representative for an inquiry, asked for US Department of State, they asked the embassy and got the same reply I've been getting for months.
  4. Contacted a different congressional representative for an inquiry, asked for Department of State, they asked the WRONG embassy, then after correction asked the right embassy, and got the same reply I've been getting for months. They are now ignoring my emails.
  5. Contacted the US Department of State, they told me to contact the NVC or embassy.
  6. Contacted the NVC and am now waiting for the very likely "your case is not with us right now, contact the embassy"

Cheers to the 534 days of AP, and being unable to marry my fianc to get residency in the country he lives in because it would void his application!
Cheers to the 4 years of visa runs (for me) and putting our lives and his career on hold!

I was really hoping a congressional inquiry would get the wheels turning so we could avoid a writ of mandamus, given the horror stories we've heard on VisaJourney. If nothing happens by early/mid-2025 we're probably going to do a writ of mandamus or even abandon the petition and marry. This has been so disappointing, and eaten up so much of our 20's. We are not even asking for an approval, a denial would allow us to move on with our lives and settle elsewhere. It should not be taking this long. I should not be 3 years, 9 months into a K1 visa process.

Hello. I apologize in advance for any mistakes, because my English is not rlly perfect.
I am a citizen of Russia. We met with my fiance once in Turkey and stayed there together for 2 weeks. It was in December 2023. We filed a petition in April 2024 and received approval in July. All this time, we communicate in Discord almost 24/7, we literally have daily calls for 10-20 hours and endless text messages.
So, the US Embassy doesnt work in Russia, so we moved our case to Hong Kong. The interview is planned for January. We want to meet there again, and at the same time visit Thailand before the interview itself. Then we will go back to Hong Kong, and he will wait for me at the building while I go through the interview.
We do not have any criminal or illegal stays. We are the same age (25 years old).
But I am worried that two meetings may not be enough for visa approval. :(
The Hong Kong embassy has few reviews and is poorly known for Russian citizens. Could we run into difficulties due to the low number of mettings? thank you

My stepson is 18 years old and is currently in University abroad and just received his IR-2 visa.

He will have to enter the US within 6 months but he wishes to continue his studies abroad. What does he need to do to keep his permanent resident status active while continuing his education abroad? His school schedule means that he will be out of the US for more than 6 months at a time. He has not arrived in the US yet but is thinking about coming during his winter vacations.

Can a teenager with IR-2 visa apply for citizenship after arriving to the US?

My stepson, 15 years old, immigrated to the US this year and holds an IR-2 visa currently in the form of a passport stamp with a temporary I-551 for 1 year. My wife is the biological mother and is a permanent resident and I am a US citizen, born in the US and the petitioner for both of their cases. We just received an ASC Appointment Notice to do his biometrics for his permanent resident card, however, we were under the impression that since he arrived to the US before turning 18, he would be eligible for citizenship.

Our questions are as follows:
- Is my stepson eligible for citizenship?
- If no, do I need to officially adopt him?
- What are the steps to getting him citizenship?
