Hi! Has anyone experienced this before? I applied for my SSN on Sept 3rd just a week after I arrived here. The local office said they would forward it to DHS for verification coz they couldnt do it in SAVE so we just said yes and did not argue. Almost two months now but my number still hasn't been created. I have been calling and inquiring at the local SSA about it till today when I was told to contact DHS to check it coz it seems stuck there. Called DHS but they said they don't check nor provide beneficiaries with SSN status. Also, I have already submitted my AOS (still waiting for NOA) wherein I checked the SSN part. However, I'm still hoping to get my SSN as soon as I can so I can start driving. Any inputs on this? Thanks!

Question for the group: I just sent the ROC (I-751 Packet) Friday. What can I expect as far as timerline is concerned? When will the $680 check clear the bank? When will USCIS contact us? What about biometrics? How long will the overall process take? Is there an 'average' amount of time, or does it depend on each couple's circumstances and her home country? We live in Florida and she is originally from the Philippines.

I'm the US citizen. Wife is in the Philippines - we were married there this summer. We've got both forms I-130 and I-130 A filled out and signed, and dozens of pages of documentation. Question 1: I've written a cover letter, and I just say "We are applying for a residency Visa so [wife] can come to the states and live with me." Do we need to ask for what kind of Visa we are asking for -- or is "residency visa" sufficient? Question 2: According to the payment calculator, the fee is only $535. Is that right, I could have sworn someone had told me $1,800 or $2,000. Any guidance appreciated.
