US Immigration from Philippines

Does anyone know if the DS 5540 is now a required document to bring to the K1 visa interview? This was an e-mail sent to a co-K1 visa applicant from Africa 'The form DS-5540 is required for anyone interviewing for an immigrant visa on February 24th or after. If you are interviewing after this date, please bring the completed form to your interview.'

Hi everyone. I am a U.S. Citizen and my wife is a permanent resident Green Card holder. She arrived in the U.S. via K1 Visa in November 2016.

We are starting the process of bringing her fourteen year old daughter to the U.S. from the Philippines. To me, it seems clear that the petitioner on the I-130 should be my wife, but she insists that I, the U.S. Citizen is the petitioner. She remembers reading somewhere that if she petitions, the wait for approval could be as long as five years. On the other hand, if I petition, the wait is just one year. I promised her a lobster dinner if she is correct, and she owes me three pounds of Jelly Bellies if I'm correct. Would somebody clarify and help us put this to rest? It would mean a lot. Thank you.

I'm sure the answer is probably going to be, "Depends..." but figured I would try to solicit some feedback.

We're applying for a K1 Visa and Keyh had her interview on the 12th of Feb. The interview itself went fantastic. She was well prepared and answered all the questions they threw at her. However, she did run into a snag with her CENOMAR. The one she received from her hometown had a misspelling in her middle name. This can be traced back to her birth when the hospital incorrectly transcribed her mothers maiden name as "Calimotan" instead of the proper "Calimutan" . The embassy refused her Visa under 221(g). All was not lost though as they assured her that everything else looked great and all she had to do was submit a corrected CENOMAR via mail, no need for her to come back to Manila (phew!).

I was arriving on the 14th anyway, so we made a side trip to the PSA in Tacloban. After two days, we got her CENOMAR corrected and sent it off to the Embassy. It was signed for and (I'm guessing) entered into the system as the "Case last updated..." date changed. Anyone have any experience with Administrative Processing in Manila and how long the process might take? Seems like a pretty straightforward correction but not sure if we're moved to the "back of the line" now? Looking ahead at all the travel uncertainties, it would certainly be nice to get her stateside.

I am petitioning my fiance along with her two young children. One is in elementary school, 6 years old and the other 4 years old.

Once they arrive in the US, how soon can they be enrolled in school? Do we have to wait until they obtain green cards? We would hate to have them miss any schooling.
