US Immigration from Philippines

Hi! I'm new here and my current fiancee is living in California. We are currently planning for a best way to get me there to get our family complete, and right now we are discussing which is the best path to take.

We know for a fact that USCIS conducts background checking and calls. I've left home because of a toxic family, and have been living independently for the past few years.

They don't know that I'm engaged and are planning to get married, sometime within the next 2 years (delayed due to CoviD).

I'm just worried, will our petition get compromised, or will it have any adverse effect if they call my parents?

Any tips or advice will be gladly appreciated, thank you, and keep safe to all of you.

A joint sponsor must sign a contract that they will take care of the beneficiary for 10 years. Therefore, can a joint sponsor be rejected because they are too old or in bad health?

My wife and 6yo stepson's (my wife's biological son) I-130 petitions have been approved. Now for the NVC stage.

It is my understanding that we can process their claim together and only pay the AOS fee once. So $140 total for both of them? Is this correct?

Then I have to pay $325 for the IV fee for both of them.

Then I have to pay a $220 immigrant fee for both of them when they get their visas? Is this correct?

So $140+325+325+220+220=$1230 Total cost for NVC altogether for both of them?

Then of course there is also the medical fees.

Did I miss anything? I suppose we may also have to pay courrier fees but that shouldn't be too expensive.

Also my wife and I were married in mid June 2018. So when we finally get the visa we will already have been married for 2 years. Does this mean she skips the CR1 visa and goes straight to a IR1 visa instead? Is there any difference in fees? Also what kind of visa will my 6yo stepson receive?

Our K1 visa expires in late August. The status is issued but it has never been received due to the closure. Does anyone have a template that I can use for requesting an extension due to unforeseen circumstances? Also, what would the email be that I should send it to? How soon should I send this request? It sounds like they may be loosening restrictions but still I want to be proactive and make sure get everything taken care of early and not wait until the last minute. I apologize if this has been asked elsewhere, I couldn't find anything. We are about 3 weeks from mailing the I 751 and due to a number of circumstances my wife has not yet had her name changed. She wants to do this so that her 10 year card would reflect her new last name. Just as everything came together so we could apply for the name change - Covid19 shut everything down and our window has been lost.

Long story short. Is it wiser to wait until after the new 10 year card is issued and then go back for a new card after the name change. Or, can we simply add additional paperwork to the application showing the name change has done? There is obviously no documentation, showing her with a new last name at this point. Our marriage license lists her with her maiden name. We felt at the time it was the better way to go rather than lose months and months in the Philippines waiting for name change documents and passport updates there. She needs her passport for work related travel and could not afford the delays that we believed we would face then.

I know we should have gotten it done sooner once she had immigrated. But we didn't. We got comfortable and just lived - now we need to find the best path forward.

A short novel for a short question - wait or move forward with name change? We prefer to get the name change done quickly as she needs to renew her passport soon anyway but not sure what documentation should be included with the I751 if we do so.

Any advice would be appreciated.
