Hello,

I have been trying to figure this out and hoping you guys can help me.

I have been married since August 2019 and my husband filed MFJ for 2019.

Employed February 2020. Got my GC in March 2020.

I am trying to figure out the taxes that I need to pay but the estimator in IRS is telling me that I won't be owing anything it calculates my husband's earning and tax info as well since we are MFJ. That doesn't seem right to me.

Re my job-- I work as a contractual QA for a Canadian software company. I get 38k CAD. No deductions or benefits taken out from my paycheck. I get paid every 15th and 30th of the month.

I received Pell Grant last week for $3k.

How do I calculate my tax payments and when and where should I make payments on it?

Thank you.

Hi,

Received email today saying my proof of domicile information that I submitted for my stepson was not accepted. However, it was accepted for my wife on a separate application at the same time. Can you help me where I am going wrong. The cover letter I submitted is below (edited for personal information). What else can I do, I don't have many other options as I have been here in the Philippines for over 10 years now. The only thing not mentioned in the record is that my federal taxes have always been filed using my USA post office box as my primary address. I used the format of a letter listed here.

Listed below are documents and proofs that I am using to establish that the USA is and has always been my country of domicile. I further believe that if they don t establish a continued domicile in the USA, the documents clearly establish my intent to re-establish domicile, at the time of their migration, due to my continued ties. The proofs here will cover both areas, establishment and re-establishment, for the determination that the USA is my domicile in accordance with the requirements listed in the DOS website and in the instructions for the I-864, Affidavit of Support:

1. Maintained 7 different credit cards from Banks in the USA with my USA post office box being my primary contact and billing address. (Navy Federal Credit Union 3, USAA 2, CapitalOne 1, and Citi 1).

2. Maintained a USA address via post office box as my primary mailing address (see proof of billing address on documents submitted as proof of domicile).

3. See Form 1099 from last year and first 5 months of current year retirement earnings showing state claim for state taxes as Alabma.

4. Arranged to live at my sister s house upon return. Listed as my attended address on all immigration application forms.

5. Attempted to find work in the USA via USAJOBS portal since at least 2015. Included are a sample of my searches and notifications for jobs.

6. Finished Bachelors and Masters Degrees while searching jobs. Degree requirements where online from U.S. college; Excelsior College, Albany, NY. Recently completed requirements for Masters see email. Diploma not yet conveyed.

7. Maintained membership in AARP (formerly American Association of Retired Persons). (See email).

8. Maintained USA based medical/dental/vision insurance for me and my family (see attachments).

9. Maintained several loans over the years with Navy Federal Credit Union in Vienna, VA. Currently two loans (see attachments).

10. Maintained car loan issued at Navy Federal Credit Union in Vienna, VA (see attachment).

11. Have sold our home here and now living in leased unit in anticipation of hopefully getting visa approval by time lease expires.

12. Family in USA are planning a Family Reunion once the arrival date is confirmed.

Lastly, I declare that it is my intention in good faith to re-establish domicile in the USA at the same time that my family migrates, if the proof of domicile that I have provided doesn t prove a continued domicile in the USA by me. I certify under USA penalty of perjury that all my statements in the letter as well as evidence that I use to support them are true and correct to the best of my knowledge.

Side note: got through to NVC after waiting one hour as I was writing this post. The customer service representative said he will send my documents to a supervisor to tell me what exactly what is wrong and what can or can not be accepted and why. So I am waiting them but would still like your input.

Hello,

Hope everyone is doing well. I have a question regarding on Marriage Cert and Birth Certificate I uploaded in CEAC Website. Do I need to send all the original civil documents that I uploaded to CEAC to my wife in overseas? Or she can just request a official copy (Philippine Statistic Authority) ? I am asking this because some documents have different barcodes. I just wanna make sure they still accept her official copies during her interview even though It has different bar code from the document I uploaded in CEAC. Thank you.
