The marriage suggestions are a bit outdated. The Trump administration announced earlier this month that you must now maintain valid visa status while your I-130 is being processed. If your current visa (e.g. tourist or J-1) expires in the meantime, you will be deportable. Are you qualified to teach anything? Computer usage / programming perhaps? There are a lot of teachers here on J-1 visas, perhaps you could snag another J-1 somewhere?

My wife came here on a K-1 in 2009, thank you all for the emotional support. She is a U.S. citizen now, we are thinking of bringing her Mom, a Filipina here as well. How do most people take care of Medical Insurance? I work at a company with great insurance, and I have VA due to a disability, but I would like to retire in a few years, and the insurance issue really has me worried. I have been without medical insurance many times, but that was long before Obama care, which really stinks in comparison to most other forms of insurance. Thankfully during that period I didn't have any of the long term (diabetes, with BP issues) that I have now. If I am on Medicare, how could I insure her? Of course, we would have her apply for a green card as soon as it is allowable, but I don't know what my options would be. In a previous life I had another Mother-in-law come here, she got Social Security but that loophole may have been closed. She and my ex have since passed away. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi everyone, I d really appreciate some guidance on the Adjustment of Status (AOS) process. My husband and I got married this past July 2025, and we re now preparing to file Forms I-485 and I-765. I have a few questions: 1. Can I use my married name and new signature when submitting these forms, or should I stick with my maiden name for now? 2. We have an appointment with the SSA this Thursday. Since my Philippine passport (the only valid ID I currently have) still reflects my maiden name, should I use that name for the SSA records, or is it okay to use my married name? 3. We plan to file the AOS after the SSA appointment is that timing alright? 4. Lastly, my husband lives with his grandmother and mother, but none of the utility bills are under his name. Should we include a separate document or affidavit to confirm that we share residence with his family? I ve been doing a lot of research, but the more I read, the more questions I seem to have. Thank you all in advance for your help and insights!

Hi! Two questions about the I864A: 1) If my household sponsor, my mother, doesn't know her retirement date, should we just leave out filling in the date? Or should she give an approximate date? 2) If my mother's surname on my birth certificate is now different, will I have to ask my mother for her marriage certificate with my step dad? For example...her name on my birth certificate says Jennifer Smith, but now she's Jennifer Smith Jones. Or, will this detail not matter to USCIS?

I have abondoned my gc way back 1998. Parents decided to apply for 1130 again. Approved F1 after 10 years, problem is that I got married, f3 petition filed but parents later decided to abandoned it. Will I have any problem if I decided to apply for an b1/b2 visa instead?
